August Hatch-A-Long!

4 of my 5 chicks have hatched so far I black one with ginger goggles a black one with a white patch on its's eye, stomach and chest another black and white one and a yellow with black lines the last one is hatching now

OH Yipee! The baby Serama was born last night! By my counting 3 days late... :weee HOW TINY BABY is! And is the coloring of a CHIPMUNK! What color will this grow up to be? Are there any tricks to determining the sex at this point, or when and whaa? :jumpy The first pic below is the Serama in our hands, alone. She has a Splash Silkie as wonderful adoptive mama. ALSO the other broody mama hatched out another Cream Legbar! The other 2 pics down below are the 2 CLs that Hatched almost a full day apart under a beautiful fluffy Buff Silkie. I am so excited! I know these are an auto sexing breed (ALSO CHIPMUNK COLORED.. to confuse the issue)...but I cant believe my eyes....ARE THESE 2 GIRLS we have here??

not the best pics, my GOOD camera is somewhere else running around the house!? My first successful hatching eggs HERE, so I am a bit giddy. Ok.... I am totally in LOVE, peeps! What do you think the Serama chipmunks Adult coloring will be? Any comments on how to ID the sex, now or later would be so helpful and much appreciated! 2 Cream Legbar chicks below hatched a day apart from light blue eggs. Girls? Chipmunk stripes on back and eyes, no white spot on head....hhmmm , one might be a bit lighter than the other though.
Congratulations! And YES - 2 girl Legbars :)

I got nervous leaving the babies with the mommas so I took them inside. But once inside the cjicks missed their moms SO much, I placed them back with them. I guess I'll just keep checking on them throughout the day to make sure they're eating and drinking.

I am waaaay to controling to not hand raise my chicks lol. The one and only time I let a mama have her baby she let it drown :-( I've really only had a few hatch from my flock until now and the broody mama wanya to hatch them and then ignores them anyway so we make a good team. She'd hatch rocks for me as long as I took whatever came out of them lol

Lol...haha...and poor little chickie that drowned :( My broody doesn't like me, she gives me a nice mean old obnauctious cluck and pecks my hand if I even try to get those eggs from her.

My last egg hatched this evening! That makes 15/15 quail and 3/3 chickens :). After all the failure this year a 100% hatch feels great!!!!!!

Wow...wish I could experience that... Congrats!
