August Hatch-A-Long!

yes shipped eggs start earlier than the day you set them unless it's winter or something...you can expect them around 2 days early is my experience...."I" would take the dried fluff out...unless you have others pipping and zipping it won't take long enough to hurt!! but that's just me...

Well these are from my own rocks but I had left them for a while to see if the hens were broody ( they weren't)so I put them in the bator. Do you think I messed up by not putting them on lockdown sooner?

If I do try to hatch again, I am going to get a thermometer and hygrometer.
It seems like if I just walked by the bator wrong, it would start beeping and the temp. Would fluctuate by 1 degree.
It really is sad because 6 of them looked like they were at day 17 or 18!!! :(

yes do....the ones that come with the incubators monitor the temp up in the lid....you need some that sit at egg level...makes all the difference....make sure you candle so you can clear out the blanks and the quitters...then you'll know how many are actually alive and expected to hatch...it's not going to go badly again!!

The only way I can get eggs is to have them shipped again though. It makes me nervous.
That is the type of bator I have.
So when my bator says day 1, it has been a full 24 hours. So do I put them in lockdown when it says 18 or 19?

I'm wearing marks in the floor checking for a pip and nothing yet :0( I would like at least one to hatch or the kids and I will be devastated they have been checking the I hatch app everyday to see what the chicks look like and they know today is hatch day cause the see the baby chick outta the egg
a little info? are these shipped eggs or fresh local eggs??

no just pump up the humidity now...you can candle and see if there is chicks in the air cell...then you'll know how close they are

I did get the first chick out and I have another pip now so I'm scared to open it again. But the pip is at the wrong end! I hear cheeping... It just seems like everything is all messed up. This is so stressful! I have no idea how many will or should hatch early. Some eggs had sat outside on the nest a few days and some were set the same day. The one I accidentally broke the other day looked to be about day 17 which was what day I had down and it was alive...
