Lol ordered 24 chicks from Meyers today and hubby was mad due to the fact that the breed he wanted wasn't in stock. Cocst $102.00 and he didn't care. Been together 16 years and he always says he trust my judgement and my purchases. I say "what gun did you order this week"?

Oh my, I missed so much! Congrats everyone who are hatching & assisting!! good luck! Well, looks like its down to 3 eggs, I'm not sure about this one. No movement, spots.. Assuming this is blood. Should I toss it? I stored it for over 2 weeks - a lot of them were over 2 weeks old which is probably why some never developed or stopped developing. This egg was laid & stored July 9th. I'm surprised it got as far as it did. Do should I toss it?

One I swear had veins & movement, now there's no veins, looks almost clear. This happened last time! Same hen's egg!!
I'm on day 14

Wish I knew. I'm a newbie at this. I hope it all works out for you.

Thanks! This is my 2nd time incubating, & one of my pullets went broody, so I moved the chicks from my first incubation into the quarantine pen outside, with a lamp in case it gets too cold. There's more room than pictured, they are just loving their new play pen with soft fluffy dirt to bathe in!

I candled the 13 eggs in the incubator a few minutes ago! I'm very excited that on day 5 I have seven that have great veining and movement! (My 8-year-old is amazed)

There's one that has a detached air cell and the yolk looks a little scrambled. I'm assuming that it's not going to do anything. This is only my second hatch and I've not seen one like this before.

I have one side saddle air cell, if that makes any sense. Should I put an egg carton in there and hope it moves?

And I have four that I can't really tell much about yet. I got excited and candled a couple of days early.

What can I say? But I'm seeing so much more just tonight than I did the entire 21 days of the last hatch. I will give them 5 more days and candle again. See if anything else is going on.

You're doing great! I'm no sure about the saddle air cell... I'd have to read up on that. I have 3 good ones right now, half way through day 14... Lol such a stark contrast from my first hatch, then again they're old eggs, change my incubator a bit, and have lower humidity. I'm hoping 3 strong chicks, no weaklings. From what I've read a loose yolk would look kinda like a lava lamp, & just plain weird.

Well I left earlier today to go pick some friends up at the airport who are staying with us a few days. Was gone for around 6 hrs (went sightseeing) and came home to find my bator at 106!

I took the lid off for a minute to cool it down and candled the eggs while I waited. Still saw movement in 5 outta 7 of them so hopefully it wasn't high for very long. Lockdown starts tommorow morning so I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.

Maybe the temp went up because of the chicks' activity in the eggs. Did you see any internal pips when you candled?
Good Luck.

hello there
My hatch has started 730pm today. my brinsea bator has started. there is 14 crested legbars (shipped eggs) and 10 EEs / amerucana blue wheaten splash eggs in there. Yes I no there is no splash amerucanas. So my pedigreed splash EE roos eggs.
Anyway the first hatch was 7:30 this evening. I heard it announce its arrival all the way in the living room. It was a EE egg.
I have a hard time with the crested legbar eggs. I think the PO has messed most of the them up. I am afraid to add up what I have spent on those eggs. I have managed to get one pair out the eggs I've bought and they came off Ebay eggs.
Ihave my fingers crossed for a good hatch on them..
I have 3 more hatches after this one .
8--10 wyandottes , (shipped eggs) brown leghorns (home grown)
8-17 cochin bantams, barbed, and so colored ones from separate pen home grown. the barbed one came for shipped eggs orginal
8-23 and 24 turkeys, shipped eggs from Mass. silver penciled plymouth rocks from Modesto, California
than I am finish , done I have more chicks then I know what to do with already.
only 1 so far. they are not due until tomorrow.....
