August Hatch-A-Long!

good luck! I use straws and stick them in the vent holes to get the water to the sponges on the bottom of the bator. Lol this chick that already hatched always is so curious what this neon color thing is & why does it move around? Starts pecking at it of course. Here it is cheering on the other 2. I went into the garage because the humidity is probably about 75% in there and candled them. The pip looks like its too far down but it's actually at the bottom o the air cell so it's doing everything right. The other one has pipped internally. Both very responsive to the taps. I can always count On my super stellar hen to deliver. Surprised she is from a hatchery. I just got so lucky with her <3

Ok so just to clarify since my babies are going on lockdown tomorrow.... They can pip between 18-21 days up to 23 days?

Yes, and they also rest for at least 12 hours after they pip so don't panic if they pip then do nothing for 24 hours...it's normal.

Humm that's a new one to me.!Maybe she thinks this 3 toe  thing is walking along with her. She wants it gone!!LOl

Lol, she is a Silkie so she actually has five toes on each foot! She acts like she is mad at it, lol. I am keeping an eye on my little NutBug...nice name huh?

This is the chick I hatched a few days ago, (mystery bantam could be serama, sebright, D'uccle, cochin, silkie, frizzle). I've been trying to figure it out. Nobody knows so far but I forgot to mention ithas really long eye lashes. And very long wing feathers. Do any of these have really long eyelashes? I had to plaster them back because she couldn't see and eyelashes kept sticking shut. She is fine but they have fluffed back out.

I found a guy somewhat local to buy eggs from. He has black/lavender split orpingtons and golden red pheassants. I found someone else that has EE, seramas, guineas, quail and chukra. Little by little I am build my list of local people with hatching eggs. Only problem is I found severalall at once and I'm afraid if I don't buy right away they won't keep in touch such I am buying 8 dozen eggs in the next week and that is not including the ones I already have or the auction I won yesterday.

I ordered some from someone awhile ago but the hens stopped laying, they just started againand he's giving me a lot exttra because I had to wait so long. Then I found a guy and he said he won't have anymore soon. So now or never and they are the ones I really want, Then I emailed someone that just got back to me. So all came together at once. So I may be handing out chickens instead of Halloween candy.

I have 13 shipped mixed silkie eggs in my bator, down from 18. and its my first hatch.

unfortunately i do have a few wonkie air cells...

and large variation in weight loss..
