August Hatch-A-Long!

I know! I think Sept. Hatch is calling some of us, lol......

I'm in too!

I'm going to try hatching 2 of my jap bantam pullet eggs, 4 of my MIL's RIR x eggs and try a half dozen free range eggs from the store just out of curiosity. The only one's I really have hope for are the RIR x but we'll see. I'll be cleaning the bator tomorrow and I have a digital thermostat on the way that I'll put in when it arrives. 1 of the banty eggs is 2 weeks old but it doesn't hurt to try.

Day 14 candle on the SFH, culled 5, 2 never started, 3 quitters (all had really wonky and wobbly air cells). The other 8 are going perfectly from what I can see. Lockdown coming quick on this batch! Will lockdown on Thurs (since I'm off), little fuzzies should be due on the 19th! Who all else is due around there? I know there are some of you here!!!!

my husband loves them too...every morning he gets up goes to the baby's coop...loads them in a bucket to haul them to their play pen! then lets everyone else out feeds and waters....I shouldn't say every morning I think we end up each taking a turn every other day...but I love him loving them!!
Wish my Hubby was like that. Mine hates chickens. Doesn't mind the chicks and thinks the banty's are alright but he doesn't like the big girls and doesn't like to help me with them.

I make him sometimes though. It's only fair since I help him with things I really don't like.

It's all about compromise. We take turns complaining about each others hobbies.

We love each other though and that's all that matters.

Fourty nine years for us last May...........
Hubby likes to sit in the lawn chair and take a nap, with our old hen sweetie sleeping on his lap............

He is very tolerant of my hobby and enjoys getting the eggs. Helps if I need it with feeding, cleaning ect.
but will not build pens for me. Grrrrrrrrrr I love him anyway...............

I do have it made....he's amazing in most ways....in Nov. we'll be married 33 yrs.

You two give me hope! It'll be 11 this December & it just keeps getting better & better. He will build me stuff but that is the only thing he likes about my hobby! Feeding, cleaning, medicine... all adds up in the long run but it's not like I'm asking him to help me with the chores, he will though on a rare occasion that I don't feel good but usually the only thing that entails is opening & shutting the coop. Sick days don't exist in my world lol!

Now that I think about it, of my homegrown mutts - the ones that needed assistance were from my only 2 girls that are NOT new layers... hm. That makes you think doesn't it?
