Chicks have done well overnight. So gratefully that all 4 that went into lockdown on my first hatch made it :)

I have looked at their wing feathers and I think there may be 3 girls 1 boy but guess I,ll have to wait & see if I got it right. And I have been searching to try finding Wyandotte chick pics trying to work out what colours they are. I can, t stop stalking them lol

lockdown for half of the button quail eggs in the bator is this saturday(the 17th) and then they should hatch the 19th(monday)

other half of button eggs are stiil a good bit away from lockdown as i just put them in the bator on monday

Update.... Humidity went down to normal after about 30 mins. AND.....

We have a CHICK!!!!! Yay for my little nugget.... I shall call him.... Minnie

With one out 2/7 are still pipping or trying to. On the other hand my one little guy that's been "upside down" gas not budged although his neighbor who started off the same way rolled himself into his correct position do his pip is towards the lid of the bator and not the floor.

Minnie pipped, zipped and hatched in 6 hours!!! She was determined to be first! And her shell looks clean; nothing crazy or abnormal there to report.

What do do about my problem child??

Yay for Minnie ....I was wondering how they were doing. Sorry I can't help with problem child as yesterday was my first hatch...how long now since he pipped?

Sure someone will be along soon who is more experienced. Did you read the post on assisted hatching just incase you need to help?

My first 2 hatchlings,1 month old, making a break for it.

This one is from my second hatch. It's the one with the long eyelashes. I have to keep smoothing them back. SHe is a week but her wings are so long. The other chick that was born the same day, everyone thought was a silkie, has tiny wing feathers and the feathers look like regular feathers. When do silkie feathers start fluffing up?

All silkies have wing feathers. If it doent have black skin and 5 toes then it is a silkie mix and the feathering wont reflect that of a full silkie.

Well I woke up this morning and all 6 chicks are doing great! The little slinged chick is now running around with no leg support at all. I dont know if it was the sling and hobbles or the vitamins or all 3, but I am happy! The last chick that was so weak is much better! Pics as soon as I get a chance!

I felt like I was getting my fix this morning. I met a guy at an auction that has eggs. He's a driver for UPS so I met him at 5:45AM in the parking lot to buy eggs and 2 chicks.

I now have two tiny Mille Fleur chicks in with my 2 hatched chicks. They seem happier with company. I have 3 Golden Red Pheasant eggs, 4 MilleFleur eggs and 10 Orpington eggs going into the incubator today thanks to my early morning parking lot drug deal, I mean chick/egg deal.

Ok this guy just hatched right before my eyes but it has this gunk attached to it and as it wiggled away it detached. Idk what this this is and what it means for the chick.
