August Hatch-A-Long!

I worked so hard on the sling lol. And Pretty Special said thank you. She would have typed it herself but its a little hard with her disability.

My EE and quail died in the eggs. Some of my guineas are astill alive but very dry indside the eggs. I never opend the incubator for 4 days. The humidity stayed high. But still dried out. Ihave increased it more. But how can I fix a dry membrane inside an egg?

Well because both chicks died we are not going to get any more chicks instead we are going to get either a pullet or a young hen

I used a band aid to fix the splay leg on one of the babies from my last hatch. It was my first hatch, so my first "splint." A local breeder showed me how. I'm not sure what the success rate is for this method. But worked beautifully for Zipper here.

Before (the little black and white)

With his "splint"

Also with his "splint"

I will have to go take pictures of him when my crew is up for the day. He gets around like nothing's happened. I left this on for about a week. Have to watch it closely and make sure it can't trip into the water or where the other chicks can trample him.

Zipper is on the right. I'm terribly sorry about the picture quality. Even with a great camera, pictures stink under a red light.
What type of chicks are they?
I i had a chick in my first batch had spraddle leg really bad. The paper i put dow was too slippery. I tried the sling with no luck at all. Ended up having to put it down because it was bleeding underside. I was pretty upset about it.
Awwwwww- I hope that never happens again to one of your chicks-so sad :(
