August Hatch-A-Long!

Placed my next batch into the bator today. at least 4 were showing veining (all on day 6) 2- hard to tell and 1 was dark inside. What is that? a bad one?
where did they come from? they already showed veins? must be 3 or more days along....dark inside? bacteria?

UGH! That's the worst!!! I ordered them online and I placed them under the broody's 6 days ago. If I can't stabilize the bator I may have to place them back under. The ones they're setting on aren't due til next Friday. I haven't candled any of those 13. I'm going totally natural there. I'm gonna let them surprise me.

I have heard that shipped eggs can start earlier because of warm temps while in the mail system. Doesn't mean early like premature, just they started incubation before they arrived.

That's good to know thanks :-). The group I have now are all frm my flock but I do want to try shipped eggs again in the spring!

If it was me, i would get the temps right before adding more eggs. That much diff in temps will ruin the batch for sure. My homemade cabinet bater has temps from 98.6 to 100.4. I would still like to narrow that margin a bit more if i can.
i haddnt put in any eggs yet they are still in the storage area.. i was still testing the bator im not adding any eggs till its right
