I think I see five...so cute! You wash eyes? The first three days my shipped silkie chicks were here I felt like I did nothing but wash pasty butt! Glad they are all over that now. I'm waiting on my silkie eggs to hatch. Today is day 18, they are in lockdown. Oh, I have two more homegrowns in there too. My first little homegrown is still no bigger than the silkies 2 days older than her. Wonder if her siblings will be as small?
Quote: some had some goopy stuff in the shell that is still stuck to their fluff and gluing their eyes....strange! I think it killed one it died after pipping its air 2 I had to help cause this stuff was thick and when it dried it glued them in...one was so full it's pip oozed....but caught that one.....I dry incubate so it wasn't humidity...or was it? hmm something was strange
here in N. Texas it's pretty high so it doesn't take much to raise the humidity for hatch!
even though the dry incubation I had one little one I had to help because it was gooey!! the rest of the clutch are hatching fine with no goo!
Quote: it was the first one to pip....I saw this gooey stuff dripping from the pip so I pulled it thought I'd find the chick dead but it wasn't so I cleared it's little nose wrapped it and put it back...I had to change it's towel 2X's before it was ready to be hatched there was another that had thick goo but not as bad....the others were normal...so I don't know I haven't come across it before but I've researched and didn't find anything but high humidity incubation but that's not the case here so I'm stumped....had one died after it pipped it's air...think it was the gooey fluid!

Incubator is peeping!!!!!Looks like at least 3 have pipped internally, 3 more are trying (well, movement at the edge of the aircell) and 2 haven't made it that far yet (but the veins are good and the young are moving). Not sure how much sleep I'm gonna get tonight waiting for the external pips and zips!
