August Hatch-A-Long!

Should I remove the dry chicks or leave them? They are knocking the other eggs around quite a bit.

they'll be fine for a day or 2 but I always remove mine

I've never had a single egg move before hatch.

Whew, then there's hope for me after all. after the brutal temp humidity problems early on and now a temporary thermostat that gives big temp swings(98.5-102) not sure if they might hatch early or late.

Fingers crossed for me. Day 7 at the moment. Bought nine light sussex eggs. I candled one and it was growing. 7 under a broody and the other 2 in an incubator. I put 10 of my own eggs in the incubator but not sure if they are fertile. worth a go.

They are almost on day 22. I got them on eBay from a person who said she has a good hatch rate and her birds are from the HJ line. I don't know...ugh! I did candle and the air sacs look good on 8 of them but I see a lot of veins and it looks like the chicks only take up half the egg. It's hard to see in them though. I didn't see any movement but then again I'm not really sure what to look for. I'm thinking I will leave them in there until Sunday?

Two chicks hatched last night and one more is zipping this morning!

The black one (in the right corner) is one of my homegrown Barred Rock x Red Sexlink mixes, the yellow one is a Buff Silkie. The one zipping right now (in front of the Buff Silkies head) is a Lavender Silkie.



I don't see any pipping from the remaining 5 eggs. 1 is homegrown, 4 others are Catdance Silkies. I hope they all hatch soon. Today is day 22 (not counting the day I set them).

Mine are on day 22 (or 23 depending on how you count) and two hatched out over the night, 1 is zipping right now. So don't give up on them yet

Sept hatch along started! who's joining?

I will be following along, but not joining. I have had enough emotional stress for one season, lol. After the batch in lockdown are done, I am putting the incubator away until spring!

I wish everyone luck with their September hatches!!

It appears to have 5 toes, however one toe on one foot has an extra nail ??? What is THAT? OMG I'm soo mad right now. He's FOS. I know I'm new to all this but I know that THAT bird is not a purebred silkie. What am I going to do with this bird? I don't want it.
