2 1/2 days late. I think the other one still has another day or two. It isn't filling the egg but still moving. They need to hurry becasue I have more eggs that need togo in the hatcher.

Also, when you candled you said you saw either clears or underdeveloped looking chicks. Were they all that way or were there some that looked "right" to you? And did you happen to notice if the one that hatched had seemed small in the egg too? What kind of eggs are they? Just trying to think of anything that might help....
undeveloped as in a smaller dark mass taking up only about 1/4 of the egg. I opened one of these and by pics it seems to have made it to around day 12-14. The chick that hatched is a black aus. the I have about 6 more like that and 4 Aus X Red Sussex. The other 15 are RIR. Of the candled eggs only a few looked right( whole egg dark except for air sac) a lot of the ones still left seem that the albumin is still excessive for this stage, taking up about 1/5 of the lower egg,( I think that's what candling is showing as it's clear). I didn't candle from day 18 on so no idea what size the hatched chick was plus there were about 16 eggs in that section of the hatching tray.

If it was still alive when you tapped into the air cell it would still be alive. You'd see movement of the heartbeat and breathing. If it was totally still and lifeless it was already that way. You didn't cause it. If your temps were low and variable it is possible you have some in there still developing that won't be out till day 25 or more. I've seen it happen on here

Have you read the assisted hatch article yet? If not its a good time, as sometimes the delayed chicks seem to have trouble getting out on their own. As for me, if the lone chick is all dry and fluffy I'd just up the humidity a tad and snatch it out

I am still new, but I hear the pros doing it all the time, LOL!
Yes I had/am having temp probs. From day 3-6 real bad 3+- after that kick in and shut off with my temporary thermo has me between 98.4 and 101.5 most of it is at the 99.5 up though. The lone chick hasn't fluffed up yet it's been 17 hrs. I can open my door for 30 sec and the humidity will only drop about 8% and it only takes the humidifiers about 1-2 mins to get it back to 65. I don't mind assisting a little bit but not too much.

Sally, my 2 week old fan dancer, gets poo stuck all over the long feathers on her butt. Is there anything I can use besides warm water to break it up and clean it off? I have to do it so often. This time it was even in her tail. She is so cute but those feathers are sooo long. Poor thing has to go thru eye cleaning and butt cleaning every other day. Beauty isn't easy.

I seriously think I have the best broody hen in the world she has hatched 5/5 chicks and they are all strong and healthy none of them are a day old yet they are soooooooo cute tomorrow I am going to put the nesting box down that she is in so she can get out and eat and drink as well as her babies.

miracle chick is still doing fine...hasn't dried off and fluffed up yet or lay upright with its leg under it like its older siblings but i think its maybe cause it was maybe a bit premature and still working through the last bits it would of gone through in it egg if it'd hatched normally. little angel is deffinantly a fighter and lets you know it! opened the bator so i could change the papertowel its on and oh my goodness did he peep like mad and thrash...did the same when i added the last 16 serama eggs to the bator.

will my chick die from being lonely? My broody rejected my chick so I am bringing it in but it has 4 other friends that were not rejected should I bring a friend in for my rejected baby
