Well it looks like my hens have both abandoned ship on the remaining eggs. I think they're confused. Maybe seeing one of them dedicate herself to raising the chicks registers as "ok I'm done, time to raise chicks". I still hear a small peep in one of the eggs but someone decided to poop on or around it so there's all this dry poo on that egg. I would imagine bacteria is setting into the egg so the odds are stacked high against its survival as it is.
I want to continue my "if it's meant to be it will be" attitude but I feel bad about leaving a chick to die like that. Maybe though she hasn't abandoned all the way. She still slept on the nest last night after being on and on all day.... idk. I'm just gonna leave them alone.
