. Meet my new babies!! The one on the right was born Wed, the none on the left Sat and was shrink wrapped on top of her egg being cracked and wax sealed!! I assisted after I realized she had wore herself out trying to push her self out of her sticky shrink wrapped membrane): her name is Hope. The other hasn't been named yet. What do you guys think their color is? They are silver white with a few spots of grey on their head and neck!! Beautiful!! Curious!! And doing great:) I'm watching them peck crumbles an drink electrolyte water with ACV added for immunity boost:) this was my first hatch and it was a rocky one but it will not be my last!! And since Thursday my Silkie hen has been broody on plastic eggs, she is a tad late and has stopped laying!! I wish I had more eggs!!

6 out of 8 hatched. One Marans out of 3 survived, one died while zipping, one (the one that she laid & became broody) didn't develop past day 10 by the looks of the air cell. I opened it up & all I saw was yolk & veins. I know that one had a head start by 3 days so it should have hatched with all the others.
These are blue splash copper Marans hybrids, a couple of my so called RIR are in there - almost look like buff Orpington chicks.

This is both our first time! She kept the nest so clean, no left over shells from the others. I'm glad I took the 2 "quitters" from under her. She was panting & closing her eyes, you could really tell she was trying to hatch those last two. She sits on those eggs like a rock! It amazes me how some just know what to do. I raised her in a brooder. Hopefully I get at least a couple broody hens out of this batch!

So cute!

I have the sweetest Buff.  She will run after me for a cuddle.  She can escape any encloser just for a hug.  Her name is Honey but I call her Honey Bunny.

How did u get her so tame to run after u cos jazzie is still terrified of me and everything else I take her food every time I go to see her but see just takes it and runs away I handle her regularly I give her food and when she takes it I grab her but she still runs away she is also getting viscous she is separated from the other hens but they can still see her there is a light Sussex who really does not like her so that's part of the reason why she separated

Ugh! I am out of town and my chicks are hatching 2 days early! My DH is not knowing what to do! If I leave right now, I won't be home until 2 am! It's gonna be a long night!

My hen has no interest in her 5 2 day old chicks she has stopped sitting on them and is not pecking me or making any noises when I touch her babies should I take the babies and raise them my self? If i do would my hen get depressed or would she just go back to being a normal chicken

I have taken chicks from a hen to bring inside because it was too cold out. She looked for them for about a day then went back to normal. But if yours truly has no interest in them then she probably won't even notice.

f you got her as an older chick it may just take longer than starting with a day old chick. Have patience she'll come around :)
