August Hatch-A-Long!

This is to everyone-

What is you dream breed?  Is there one kind you have wanted forever but can't find or is too expensive?  Why that breed?
I would love to have bbs ameraucanas but I can't afford shipped eggs ( especially since I don't even know if my bator works well yet) They are so pretty! :)

(I'm a few pages back, but I'm so sorry to hear)

you are absolutely certain that not 1 egg is going to hatch?? you've candled and there is nothing in the air space, no chirping when you tap? I've had people say they had straggler at day 25!!
nope I cracked them all this am and they were like scrambled like only one had maybe a tiny tiny embryo that's it on day 22 and 1/2 and its the 3rd hatch that went wrong with this bator very disappointing so well try again with a new bator and see if its us or the bator

its the bator lol

usually when someone is just plain mean it's because they are unhappy! there are huge differences in different parts of the county as to how people behave too...
my dream breed??? well if I could think of an answer I'd come across another one! lol
I have an egglet chirping this afternoon!!
What is the egg?

I'm sorry....I was really hoping to be celebrating with you today. I did get one and I have another who pipped the shell about 6 hours ago. I'm praying you get a good hatch next time around.

I havent been on since yesterday but if this pip isnt 15 hours old at least with out making any progress leave it alone! If you open it or help too soon you may make it bleed to death. We always want to help but its really a last resort when you are sure the chick cant do a thing.more itself Heidigran is right.
I took one out like this 2 days ago after it sat 24 hours almost it had a bad leg.i fixed it. then it was eating but couldnt stand seemed weak.Died during the night so sometimes you help a chick that wont make it anyway Unless they are shrink wrapped they should be strong enough to hatch a % will have problems of some kind then you have a cripple to take care of or cull Neither is fun.

if it wasn't getting air is couldn't chirp so it has to be dry where it's beak is....after a while you might want to open it's pip just a little so it's getting enough air....it's obviously not in the right position but as long as it can breath I'm almost certain it can hatch...the only thing that may come up is if the baby is too big to turn in the small end...but you'll be there to help!! give it a good 24 hrs!

It is obvious when I am close to a hatch because I am on here too much. This helps with the sakes.

I had so many bad hatches but now I think I've finally worked it out.
Just a backyard mix to start off with
I got the backyard mixes to practice with. I figured they'd be easy to give away so I could hatch what I really wanted. But now one of my favorites is a Marans/Buff Orpington mix. She is a cuddle bug. Soon to be an enormous cuddle bug. And so pretty. So I will just have to build a bigger coop instead.

I had some like that. The post office scrambled them. Most expensive scrambled eggs I ever had.
