August Silkie Hatch-A-Long!

baby number 1! Hope the eggs around it are okay, it’s been bumping into them.

The first chick that hatched did roll an egg to the side of the incubator (against the wall of it) and I'm worried the baby won't be able to hatch as a result. Is there anything I can do? Or will the baby rock the egg back into a good position perhaps?

Question: The black silkie hatched last night. At what point does the chick need to leave the incubator? 3 eggs haven't hatched. 1 or 2 (definitely at least 1) may have pipped, but I can't see a pip on the rest yet (and they were alive when they went into lockdown).

Another update: Chick #3 has hatched.
I don't see any visible pips on any of the other chicks, so I'm hoping they will do that soon. Is it normal for three to have hatched without some pipping?

Omg how exciting - CONGRATS on your hatched babies :loveThey are gorgeous ❤️
How are the other eggs doing? Some more pips? And is there some news about Oinky's egg?
I took out my hached babies when they were fluffed up and started being very acitve (kicking the other eggs over the place) but only if there was no external pip in the other eggs at that moment. This worked well with 12 hatching babies. My little number 13 never hatched, later I found out this little one unfortunately died around day 19 and never pipped internally, cause of death remains unknown, but this baby didn't die because I opened the incubator.
But if I'm informed correctly you can leave a hatched chick for 24 hours in an incubator.

Fingers crossed for the eggs that didn't hatch yet :fl

Thank you! Only the three have hatched so far :(. We will taking them out of the incubator tonight putting them under the mamas. The egg that was developing under Oinky, sadly, died at some point shortly before Day 18. So as of now I have a 3/18 hatch. Which is incredibly disappointing. I paid a good amount of money for these eggs and to have most of them not even develop (let alone hatch) is quite disappointing. 11/18 didn't develop at all.

I'm sorry. But it is great that three babies hatched (so far - perhaps some others will still hatch :hugs) and Oinky and Inky can be mothers after brooding all that time.
I would love to see some more pictures ❤️
