Hey Bubba, "Bollocks" is a word from England,
I think it means "a load of crap!!" you say bollocks if you dont believe what someone is telling you or you dont agree with something.
I guess we could all start using that word here!!
but then again, maybe not!!!
Hey bubba, we didnt mention bollocks in this thread did we, i searched but cant find it, or were you just curious.
Ostriches in Australia are Ostriches too!!!
Emus look like Ostriches but are smarter and better looking. just kidding!!
I'm from Tasmania - LOL, you know, that little bit of rock down the bottom that is all by its lonesome! It's nice to see there is a healthy Australian contingent in here! I haven't stumbled across any Britts yet. So as I'm English, I will claim to be the first!? (Does that count even though I live in Oz?) And yep bollocks means crap, basically! I love slang in all its forms! Australian's have some of the stranger ones I have to admit! I never could understand 'filthy' or 'filth' as meaning something is GOOD! I know some people get offend by some of the slang, so I will apologise if I have caused any offence here. I have to say I really love to use slang in my day to day conversation! It's force of habit in my family. We come from cockney stock - so say no more, nudge nudge wink wink!

Aw, I just read your post - I am SO jealous of you guys! I can just imagine the space and the fresh air. I absolutley LOVE snow! I used to live on the Gold Coast in QLD, but the heat was literally killing me - (I suffer with migraines and the heat brought them on worse I believe). I relocated to Tasmania, and haven't looked back! We usually get a light dusting of snow each winter, and I just love it! But I guess if the snow blocked up the doors and made getting about hard, I might change my mind on that! I used to have gerbils as pets when I was a kid in the UK... LOL them and hampsters! As those guys aren't allowed (I think that is the case) in Oz, I own rats instead! Viva la furballs!!!!
Yay, a Taswegian here!!!
I love Tassie people, they are really homely,
I have their CWA cookbook from the Esk Valley.
Its a beautiful place, lots of wilderness posters are made in Tassie. I wish to come there one day.
My true love was from Tassie.
Theres a few English people here too.
Perhaps put a new thread in asking for them to show themselves so you can all talk about english stuff!!! my grandmas was from Edingborough and grandad from Scotland!
Its funny that if i ever have one too many to drink i get this thick English/scottish accent and everyone asks me "what part of England are you from?" i dunno!
G'day Aussies and Kiwis. I'm an Aussie who has spent the past 17 years living in the States. My hubby, 2 kids and I have 11 acres in Virginia. All my family is still in OZ. I was in QLD August 2006 visiting family, born and raised in Vic myself.
We have a caravan in Lakesea Park. I have been going to Durras since I was a baby (like my father before me). Jen has been a few times. I guess we will not make it till April this year. So the van stays empty most of the year.
I just love the place. One day we should try and move to a small farm closeby....
