Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Lol this one was the size of a small saucer plate. The little huntsmans and daddy long legs legs are ok but I can't stand wolf spiders white tips funnels or very big huntsmans. We catch the hunters and let them go in the plum tree. The wolf spider last night died. Sorry Lucus but I can't have it in my boys rooms!

Rain finally!
Cooled down a bit.
Really sorry Satay, losing birds to the hot weather is terrible, there is only so much we can do.
I was worried about my babies a bit, but they survived.
The last remaining egg that a friend's broody was sitting on hatched on Saturday!
The same day, after dark, we put my 6 day old chicks under her and she accepted them.
On Sunday the big family came to my place :)

Thanks Red. We got some rain too not a great amount but it cooled it down so both me and the girls and guys were pleased lol.
For brissy folks did you see on the news logan got 90 mm in under an hour they had to evacuate ikea carpark... Hubby rang and his work flooded. He is 5 mins down the road from ikea. He will spend the morning on a broom sweeping water out before they can start work.

I'm with you Sam, I hate spiders! We have an iron roof on top of the original timber shingles. The huntsman breed in the gap. When the tin heats up they come inside, they look like something from durasic park. No matter where you are they always seem to be watching you. Eek.

I find spiders fascinating little critters :) I have a huntsman that moved with me from Qld lol she is now about the size of a dinner plate. Give or take a couple of mm's :)
I also have a bird eater living under my water tank. Just as the sun is coming up you can hear her whistle :) Although she is not classed as a pet, she is not a pest either. She kills at least 2 sparrows or starlings per day. Find their dried up carcasses laying on the ground.
Mind you, that tank is no where near my chickens, although she's probably thought about it. Then she'd be asking for trouble.

Sam your chicks are so cute! They look just like mine :D mine are 18 days. Fancy, i wrote to you saying all is well here and said "i hope i don't jinx myself".. I jinxed myself :th we had a big horrible snake, it took 2 of my baby Australorps :hit my poor mum had to stick her hand in the chicks little home to rescue the others, my mum is petrified of snakes, poor bugger. I wasn't home, had gone out to get the chooks feed and dad left their little roof open for them to get some air, I said to him don't leave it open if you're not around because.. Well you know, needles to say i was heart broken when i got home, my mum hasn't stop shivering from the memories and dad is feeling like crap. In other news! Lol too take the remaining poor little monsters mind off the horrible torment the endured i listened to all your wonderful and much appreciated advise and put the extension onto the chicks home, they had their trip onto the grass and they LOVE it! It's so cute watching them scratch and dig in the grass and practice their flying skills.. As per usual i have included some pics ;) my Barne's tail feathers are hilarious! I've since taken the cute, but very silly white balcony off so the chicks have more grass..
Sorry for the loss of your chicks Syd :hugs That is a lovely looking diamond though :)

Looks like we missed the storms again. I hour of thunder and soo humid.... Rexy you should be in for some nice rain hopefully.

Bad luck Satay, hopefully you should get some in the rest of this week, with the showers hanging around. We got an inch in a downpour again. Lucky we don't need topsoil.

We have huntsmans everywhere here. My son will carry them outside if one is somewhere it should not be. . Funny what scares us isn't it. I am terrified of grasshoppers. The big brown ones with scratchy legs and beedy eyes lol. Thanks to my brother who use to chase me with them when we were younger. Want to see a 6ft grown man run ... Bring a praying mantins in side hubby hates them.. :lau
