Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Hey girls are loving their new bigger coop, but today I found an egg covered with blood when I went out. When I checked I found one of my older girls had prolapsed and was bleeding. When I picked her up she had also lost a little weight.. I gave her a soak in warm water to clean her up, I found what looked very similar to maggots in the water :-(( . I have isolated her away from the others and keeping an eye on her. Very concerned that that she may not make it ...I know prolapse isn't dangerous but bleeding and look like maggots in the water is really concerning as she has been healthy and never had any problems before this. So a newbie at this whole prolapse issue.... Is there anything I need to do ?

My poor little baby Wayan wriggled out of my hands and fell on the tiles.
I'm now at the vet and it's costing me $330 to get him checked, X-ray and medication!
My ducklings were $12 each! Guess you can't put a price on love xx

I haven't had any experience with prolapse ( touch wood ), I would clean the area down with antiseptic and spray it with cetrigen .

I have never had it myself Kat but i believe with a prolapse you need to carefully push it back inside. Maggots are not always a bad thing to find as they only eat rotting flesh etc so they actually help with infections. I hope your poor hen is better soon.

Wayan had his/her X-ray and it looks like nothing is broken... Phew
Wayan's leg is swollen and bruised hopefully he will get better and hopefully nothing internal is damaged.
Wayan is eating, drinking and pooping, praying he will be up waddling around soon...

Wayan cuddling up with Ketut with his/her sore leg stretched out...
