too cute Sam

Hey guys I'm back on deck. Had an exhausting weekend, but fun was had by all. Jess won a couple of hundred dollars and best combination of the weekend.
She is very happy with her boys ( they may even get a day off ).
Why is it that when I'm not here my chooks run a muck?? Yesterday my little silkie ' ginger ' got trapped down behind the nest box, hanging upside down for god knows how long. She's twisted her wing. I'd say she was trying to avoid the amorous attention of a Cockerel . Yes that's 2 days in a row I've come home to a chook hanging. This morning I found a young rabbit dead in one of the pens and didn't have time to remove it. When I got home this Arvo it's been half eaten, eek.
Oh and whilst we were gone two little chicks hatched under silkie momma, one is blrw roo over gold laced and the other is a wylkie. Very cute, and once I've had a rather long 'nana nap ' I'll get some pics.
welcome back! I'm only catching up on posts myself haha. Looks like another exhausting day for you. Congrats to your girls on the show jumping. Your pour chicks.

So I've noticed the past 3 nights that's when my chickens are in there coop for the night, I usually go out about 10ish to check on them before I head to bed, and 3 are always standing! They stand there with their heads and wings hanging! Why won't they sit down??? Or go on the perch??? Makes me feel super uncomfortable that they are uncomfortable! Is there a reason they are doing this, or would they eventually sit down during the night... Help!

Are any of you in the heat wave area down QLD/WA wy?

Yes we are meant to be back in heat wave again this week. Not sure what temps but we have had 38 and 37c the last few days so I am guessing we will be in the low to mid 40's again from today.

My condolences...meanwhile it's all flooded around the Noonamah area up north here...so wet that the egg production is practically nonexistent.

My under the tree mama Newt hatched 5 beautiful healthy chicks, 1 not so healthy, one left out in the cold that died and another two eggs going that I popped in the incubator that she had left. The one not so healthy chick is already looking heaps better after being in the incubator for a few hours, both eggs are wiggling:)

The hay is in the shed at last! 450 bales and I even managed to get a pic for you Sam. We were lucky this year, we had plenty of help. So I started the barby and we had a sausage sizzle and a beer afterwards.
Over the weekend I donated 5 doz eggs to show jumping and we ran out , so I went to woolies and the cheapest eggs were $4.30 . I was gob smacked! It's been a while since I had to buy eggs.
I'm hoping to have a nice day in the garden and get some pics of the newbies for you guys. I really need to paint this rediculous pink cubby that we brought in for the silver laced Wyandotte pen. It will be kinder on the eye , once it is manor red.
My sprouts went ' great guns ', so I've devised a system and have the next lot of barley soaking.
