Clean out the pens and remove all bedding and nesting materials. Dust each chickens with dust. I use pestene but there are other brands as well. Repeat in 7 days

Thanks satay. I'm going to move them to a new coop in the next week or so, so everything in there will be new. I bought some diatomaceous earth a while back...I can use that? Can I use it on ME??

I have heard mixed reviews about it. I think it is more of a preventative than a cure. Fancy or Ash will probably know. I use acv and garlic in their water so I have not actually had any in years but I dust anything I sell just to be sure.

I have had lice once but never mites. I dust under the bedding every time I change it in spring / summer and treat the girls once. Some one here said to use puppy or kitten spot on flea tick killer I am thinking g I will use it next time it warms up!

Yeah, I've put ACV in their water for a while now, and I save garlic peelings and put them into the nesting box. How do I add garlic to the water? Just crush a clove an mix it in? I have some frontline spray for when the kids get head lice (although that hasn't happened for a while...the frontline is hands down the best lice killer EVER)....could I hit them with that on the back on their necks, or would it be too toxic?

I have heard of people using it for lice. I am not sure if you would have a withholding period for eggs,we are talking frontline that you use for dogs? I boil a whole bulb of garlic in a saucepan of water for about 30 mins then i put a cap full of the water in their waterers when i change it or top it up.

Your so lucky. Mites are horrible, I am so paranoid about them its really annoying just worrying about getting them everyday.
I have vowed that if I get them again as bad as I had before that I am just giving up on chickens.lol.

Your so lucky. Mites are horrible, I am so paranoid about them its really annoying just worrying about getting them everyday.
I have vowed that if I get them again as bad as I had before that I am just giving up on chickens.lol.
