Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Hi chook lovers,
I'm just wondering if someone knows where to buy sprouting barley seeds in bulk in Sydney? I would like to set up a fodder creating hydroponic system but I'm having trouble sourcing the grain.
Many thanks toitoichookas

It depends where abouts in Sydney you are. Out towards Windsor you'll find some produce stores and there used to be one at Dural. If all else fails, contact your local horseland as lots of folks soak barley for their horses in the winter. We've been doing it for years, adding acv to the pot after it has boiled.

I find that you can't go past cetrigen , purple spray. It is not only an antiseptic but it also repels flies. Available at most places that stock horse supplies. The other spray that I keep in my first aid box is Terramycin antibiotic spray. You can spray this one in the eyes. It is specifically for pink eye. Believe me it's easier to apply and will give you a much broader coverage.

Purple spray also disguises the wound and reduces the chance of additional attacks.

Update: my chicken isback to normal after her prolapse.. Thanks everyone for the advice it worked a treat. But now after returning from a 3 day holiday another has gone broody!! I can see I will be working hard this year

yah kat. You did amazing getting her better.., Well done :weee

Where can I get this from?
Also how much is it? and isn't it for dogs? if so what size should I get?

Megan thank you so much for the mealworm site. They are SO cheap, even for extra large meal worms. My pet store was like $10 for 50 medium sized ones.
Think I'll get back into it again.

Yeh it's completely safe as my friend (vet) recomended it!
Get advocate for kittens and small cats up to 4kg.. It's an orange box! I get the 3 for $40 but it lasts for more then 6 months as you only need to put 1 drop on the chicken! So not the whole tube! I just seperate the feathers on their neck and place the drop there so they can't chew it :)
Also it prevents fleas and ear mites on chickens! It also worms them! So no need to continue with the worming you are already doing!!

And no problem! The mealworm site is so cheap! And they are way better then in a pet store, so much healthier!!
