Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

sorry you didn't get many hens. I'm afraid I don't have any more to offer you. I do have one boy though lol.
I've been up and down. Booker went broody again and i noticed far too late that she wasn't eating properly and was very thin. Vet said it was egg periontitis which caused extreme weight loss. For a week i was feeding her via a tube directly into her crop as well as her medicine butin the end we lost her :,( both my babies :,( but at least I have some of their chicks. It's going to kill me to give away their last son but I have to keep the marans and would be too difficult to keep two roosters. Anyway.. The marans are doing well, big and pretty and actually much friendlier than rocks. Good egg color I think. I'll have to get new pics because I just put everything on my computer and the hard drive had died lol.
I'm afraid I just can't make it to Rehearsals but can come in to cast faces for masks whenever needed. Did Carol like the mock up of the angel of music?

Oh Pinky. I am so sorry you lost booker :hugs

It looks like Ginger has pox. It's been a really mosquitoy summer here, so I' not surprised. The scary thing is that it looks pretty bad, and so I hope it doesn't spread to her eyes and throat and turn into wet pox. All the reading I've done suggests it's just a matter of waiting it out. She doesn't seem distressed and is still laying, but I've noticed she often roosts with her head under her wing wheras the others don't. At the moment, it's concentrated around her comb, but her legs and feet seem fine. Is there anything I should be doing? It's probably too late to quarantine her now...I reckon the other girls would be well and truly exposed.
I was hoping to move them into their new home this weekend, as I'm sure their manky old coop isn't doing them any favours.

All the reading I have done on this, I would still quarantine her, then any other hens that get it put them in with her.
Have you read that you can give her some antibiotic or some supplements of some sort to stop secondary infections. Not sure what you give her but if you look on BYC I'm sure you will find it.

Well not a great result from my candling last night

. Only seem to have 6/10 eggs that are mostly black ( I didn't count my Marans as they are to hard to see into ).
The other 3 are clear and one is clear with what could be a vein ( started to form then died ) or a blood ring.

Only 2/6 of the precious posted Blue Leghorn eggs are mostly black, which is really disappointing

I lost 4 chooks to this before Xmas, and I would still quarantine . They say it takes about 3 weeks to pass. Unfortunately mine got wet pox and were suffering as they were unable to eat or drink so I had to make the awful decision to cull them. I have a roo that has pulled through, but it was touch and go for a while.
