Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Their siblings are all perched outside the office window. I've clipped their wings and keep collecting them up and taking them back to their pen and then I go out for the day and they are all back in the garden. That little black /blue roo is annoying the crap out of my bantam hens and George comes to their rescue.

They are silver laced Wyandotte . Try Andy Vardy's backyard poultry web site. I'm pretty sure there are some breeders out your way.

Yeah, most people have the collars on their roosters ALL day, but I only plan to have it on my rooster from dusk- about 6:30am.
I will test it on him first as I am scared something might happen overnight.
G'Day Luke :)

I have been lurking in the background, keeping up to date with everyone's news and obviously have not had any silly questions for a while

I just wanted to mention that I have a friend trying the rooster-collar method. She made her own out of a knee brace but while it was flexible enough for him to pretty much do what he wanted it was a bit too flexible and he could still crow. She made a slightly stiffer one that he was not quite so happy with and while he was still able to crow, it was somewhat reduced in volume and length. Admittedly he is only 4 months old and just learning but she has also ordered one from the lady on Facebook. If you like I can let you know how she goes?

In general news, still no gender outcomes on Tina and Suzi (4 month old Silkies). No one is strutting their stuff and no-one is crowing!
Cilla went broody again for the third time in 3 months and I caved! She is now in her element sitting on 9 Pekin Cochin Bantam eggs; fingers crossed that I get a little 'brown feathered beach ball' just like her 'black feathered beach ball' mumma!

thanks for the help guys, so im guessing with Wyandottes there are heeps for colours?
You said it.lol.
If you count the UK and US colours as well...there are tonnes!!!

Yeah when I saw what the colours where I was like...pffft! I can make my own.lol.
That is why I have only got one so that I can try make my own!

Well mine should be coming soon but yeah it would be great to know how it goes if your friend gets it first.
Also it does say, and it's probably for disclaimer reasons.lol, but they do say it does NOT work on some roosters and I am thinking that's exactly what's going to happen with my hackle filled Leghorn.lol.

No problemo, I will let you know how she goes .. will also keep lurking to see how you go if you get yours first; I am sure she would also like to hear if it works!

I have to admit I admire yours and her determination to keep your roosters. I don't think I have the resolve to push my boundaries with my neighbours just that little bit further and try to keep a rooster also. Mind you, having said that, I don't think he could really compete with the local bird life at sunrise! lol

I do love the disclaimer! It's definitely worth a try I'm thinking
