Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

They sure are Lucas. Poor fellow needs a life.... After being in retail, I came to the conclusion that people are weird.

Lol, I spent 20 years in retail and there were times I used to wonder about the good old ' human race '. I'd much rather spend the day with my chooks , goats and horses. They don't talk back ! :lau

There were none in there as such Luke but lots of droppings to remove. Odd thing was i found more empty macadamia seeds than rat poop. They must be a fav of theirs...

Lol, when we first started to restore this old farmhouse we found rats nest 2 foot deep in the stairwell. The nest was full of shredded apple labels and ladies pantyhose . I can just see them now relaxing with their stockinged feet up on the lounge munching on macadamia nuts. :lau

Well I just got attacked on FB:( . Bloody D*#^ Head!!
Put up pictures of my white Frizzle and I jokingly called it my 'Frizzled Leghorn' and he was like "there is no such thing as a Frizzled Leghorn" saying I was wrong and such, even though I was aware of the fact. So I messaged him this and he went off ( CAPS locking me to death.lol. ) at me saying Frizzle was a breed and that I was mis-leading people. I just laughed and said bye:lau .
Some people are just so rude!

You should have given him what for Luke because technically you are right in saying frizzled leg horn. From what i know and research i have done on frizzles over the years , There is no true frizzle breed. It is a genetic trait that can be passed to any other bird. So you can have frizzled pekins frizzled leghorns, i have a frizzled aussie rooster right now, etc...You can also just call them a frizzle but most will ask you frizzled what?

My Frizzle hen is laying great guns ( better than my Leghorns at the moment ) and I have already saved up my half dozen off her eggs that I want to hatch, but I don't want to eat the rest of the eggs she is laying.

So, is anyone interested in test hatching her eggs for me? Of course the eggs themselves will be free, I will just ask that you pay for postage. I will do a proper job at packaging and posting in the hopes you get the best result.
The offspring of this will be lovely white Frizzled Leghorns. Some of the offspring will have pea combs, others straight and SOME will have ROSECOMBS.
I have already had one pullet hatch for this cross and she is a friendly and lovely looking bird.
Also, this is a Frizzle cross so you may indeed get some flat feathered birds.

I can only do half a dozen as it's only one laying. This should take 6-8 days to collect up:) .

Of course it will be first in best dressed, BUT I am looking at giving @satay
, @Ashburnham
, @Fancychooklady
, @K Spot
, @Teila
, @megacakes
, @rexy
, @Bens-Hens
, @IamSamSam
and @SydneyChickens
first as I know them the most and they are always on this thread:) , so if either of these people don't want them or can't have them then they will be open to everyone else. ( No offense to the others ).

Darn Luke shame my bator is full would love to have tried some of your frizzles. Glad you got rexy and syd who are interested in taking them. I can't wait to see pics ladys.

Lukas, my boss has been talking about getting a hatch going at school. I'd need to investigate where I could hire an RCom though, as we have no money for funding so I'd probably end up paying for it myself. The other thing is we are about to start holidays...if we started in about three weeks (beginning of term 2) would you still have eggs?

!!!

Quote: Yes, this too is what I have known etc. But this Daniel bloke is saying that there is a breed and standard for Frizzle, and he is right. I did some more research and over in the UK there is a Frizzle breed, so I think that is what he is talking about.
Over in the US, there is no Frizzle breed. So to them, anything frizzled gene bird is a Frizzle.

Quote: Eggs of what???
I can have these Cross Frizzles, White Leghorns of some really nice mixes???
Most of the crosses I have will come out white.

Luke, thank you so very much for the kind offer. I wish I was in a position to take you up on it; I really do think I need a Frizzle in my little family.

Unfortunately the timing is not right. Cilla, my only proven broody, is still playing mumma to Tammy and Blondie, Tina is only 6 months old and not laying or showing signs of broodiness yet and Dusty is molting and has never been broody. I do not have an incubator and to be honest, do not have room at the moment for more chicks.

On that note, the last egg I saw was 2 weeks ago! I have 5 chickens, no eggs! Pfft, good job these girls are my babies and I am not in it for the eggs!

Surprise me!

I think it's a good lesson for the kids (and me) to realise that nature has it's quirks and surprises. If only we could detect in-shell which ones were roosters...
We have two old Isas in a very large area so could definitely fit more in. I'll make a few enquiries this week as to whether I can hire an incubator and brooder from somewhere. If there's anyone in the Sydney area who could help or can point me in the right direction give me a hoi.
