This message if for everyone:
My Frizzle hen is laying great guns ( better than my Leghorns at the moment ) and I have already saved up my half dozen off her eggs that I want to hatch, but I don't want to eat the rest of the eggs she is laying.
So, is anyone interested in test hatching her eggs for me? Of course the eggs themselves will be free, I will just ask that you pay for postage. I will do a proper job at packaging and posting in the hopes you get the best result.
The offspring of this will be lovely white Frizzled Leghorns. Some of the offspring will have pea combs, others straight and SOME will have ROSECOMBS.
I have already had one pullet hatch for this cross and she is a friendly and lovely looking bird.
Also, this is a Frizzle cross so you may indeed get some flat feathered birds.
I can only do half a dozen as it's only one laying. This should take 6-8 days to collect up.![]()
Of course it will be first in best dressed, BUT I am looking at giving @satay , @Ashburnham , @Fancychooklady , @K Spot , @Teila , @megacakes , @rexy , @Bens-Hens , @IamSamSam and @SydneyChickens first as I know them the most and they are always on this thread, so if either of these people don't want them or can't have them then they will be open to everyone else. ( No offense to the others ).![]()
Thanks for the offer Luke, but I will be producing my own frizzle chicks soon with a Buff Pekin rooster over my frizzle hens.
Maybe we can swap some bloodlines later.

Oh...and speaking of rats, I'm waging a losing battle there. If I go out to the ladies at dusk, there's a scurry of big sleek rats running out the door. My coop is so secure now that the chooks can't escape any more, but the cat can't get in and do her job! (No more poops on my new deck, though...this is good) Although the bucket method seems effective, I can't see myself facing a bucket full of rats, so I thought I'd give this a go. No chemicals, seems pretty humane and shouldn't hurt my ladies at all. Anyone else seen one of these in action?

My only concern is that the ladies might eat the dead rat afterwards if I can't bag it quick enough, but at least there's no poison involved.
@Cluckcluckluke My family & I will be driving back home to QLD from Sydney on Sun 27/Mon 28 April thru Coffs Harbour, if you want me to pick up the eggs for @Rexy on our way thru? (If you think that would be safer than posting them.... And if she can wait that long for them!).. Rexy lives just down the road (so to speak) from me![]()
That's all good.
Well, I have just gone through all this Frizzle Business.lol.
My 'Frizzles' are NOT recognized as Frizzles in Australia.
In Aus, we follow the UK standard, were Pekins and Polish Frizzles are an actual breed, standard and all.
My "Frizzled Leghorns" are just crosses. They of course have the Frizzle gene but I can't sell them as 'real' Frizzles here in Australia.
Over in the US any breed can be sold as a Frizzle as long as it has the gene of course.
But if you just want birds with the Frizzle gene then yes we can swap lines.![]()
Ahhh Lukas...that will teach me to not get too excited and read your whole post carefully! For some reason I thought you had LOTS of eggs! I will still do some research, and when I get it together maybe you or someone ese might have some fertile eggy surprises next term. Have fun, Sydney and Rexy...lots of pics please!!![]()
It's all goodLuke, thank you so very much for the kind offer. I wish I was in a position to take you up on it; I really do think I need a Frizzle in my little family.
Unfortunately the timing is not right. Cilla, my only proven broody, is still playing mumma to Tammy and Blondie, Tina is only 6 months old and not laying or showing signs of broodiness yet and Dusty is molting and has never been broody. I do not have an incubator and to be honest, do not have room at the moment for more chicks.
On that note, the last egg I saw was 2 weeks ago! I have 5 chickens, no eggs! Pfft, good job these girls are my babies and I am not in it for the eggs!

Quote: Ok, Well I am going to leave it up to you to get in contact with me when you want the eggs. Please ask early though as I need time to collect. But PLEASE don't rely on me 100%, I don't want to be a disappointment. Chickens are very unreliable.
Thank you so much@Cluckcluckluke Wow Luke... They are beautiful girls.... I'm hoping to have a frizzle or 2 sometime soon... Gorgeous!.![]()
K Spot, a lady on FB has just got the exact same problem you little hen has just gotten over. Her name is Megan Gavenlock ( Link ). Could you please help her out?Luckily I've only had to battle lice and mites once and got rid of them. I just removed all litter, hosed it out completely and sprayed the whole coop with a generic insect spray while the girls were out free ranging in the yard (yes, I removed water and food). Put some ivermectin on their back and no issue since.
Hope you have some success soon Lucas.
Here's the progress of my Dorking's eye - words cannot express how happy I am she's almost all better. She went back in the main coop last night.
