Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Yes I had 3 cases of fowl pox last year. The 2 hens died and hubby put the roo down, I believe that the roo had wet fowl pox. He looked like he was coming good after 3 weeks then relapsed. I couldn't bare to see him suffer anymore. Tough love. Touch wood I haven't seen any symptoms since.
I don't normally bring any birds in , but I will need to replace a roo soon so I will set up a quarantine pen an acre from my other birds , if after 6 weeks he passes his health checks , he will be rewarded with some lovely looking ladies .

Thanks for that Fancy, Do you think you would be more suseptable down there because of all your wet weather?

It was after spring and there was water laying everywhere. We routinely empty the horse water troughs to minimize mosquito larvae but we live on the river , you've only to sit on the verandah at dusk to see the trout jumping for them.
In dry pox , if you can keep them nourished and hydrated it should pass in 3-4 weeks, but in the wet form lesions grow in the esophagus , eventually starving them to death.

We also have loads of water around us. I have three types of kingfishers that come by & check on my pool just in case fish have moved in. During the floods a sacred kingfisher was fishing off my lawn - for insects I hope. I can't walk on the lawn early morning or evening without getting bitten. Drives me nuts.
Thanks for all the input Satay & Fancy.

Well some good news.
