Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

They do a little but they have feathers on their feet plus little stripes. When googling maran chicks just then I came across the following post which is exactly what they look like. Little bit of striping and a little eyeliner happening. This is what the little ginger ones look like from all angles. This is just the first one I grabbed. :) Photos taken with flash.
You could be in luck if that's the case . Still a cross with welsummer but the eggs will be dark

I agree Vehve.  The only thing we need to worry about is the heat.  The forecast for the next three days in Brisbane is 32C, 35C & 38C.  That's 89.6F, 95F & 100.4F!  I hope the aircon at the convention centre works well.  Heat tends to make people grumpy.  ; )  My trips outdoors will be limited to quick sprints to revive chooks.

That's hot for you cwrite for sure but I can only wish we stay that cool. Mum's in brissy and she works in a fish and chip shop.. Feel sorry for her this weekend.

Been a busy week, huon show this weekend , our eldest daughter and I are stewarding in the hack ring our youngest is competing on 3 horses ,our pony ' Rosie ' is in the animal nursery and we are also sponsors . Phew and I haven't changed out of my garden clothes all week. Next Wednesday is our open garden, today I've been shooing off the sea eagle . Momma duck is down to just 6 ducklings and every morning they run up to me and walk all over my feet looking for feed. The eagles chicks hatched yesterday and I think he has promised the mrs duck for dinner. Today I lost one of my blrw , it was choked by one of its silkie mommas feathers. Nothing I could do.

:hugs Sorry for your loss. Sure sounds like you have had a busy week though.

Good morning folks

I hope you manage to deny those eagles duck dinner!

The predicted high for Sunday is now up to 39C (102F)! Ouch!

News from here:

Cilla = still broody.

Tina, after sitting on imaginary eggs for 3 days has miraculously hatched out two x 7 weeks old babies! Lol
After locking her out of the nest box she has decided that Spot and Gloria are her new bubbies and has reattached the cord; calling them over to feed them, protecting them from their aunties and my feet!

I believe Blondie is close to cutting the cord on Bear. Yesterday, for the first time, when offering her meal worms she ate one herself and gave one to Bear, up until yesterday Bear was getting them all!

Once the cord is cut, I am going to try and find Bear a home. I believe she is a pullet so it should not be too hard.

While I am 80% certain Spot is a rooster, I am still going to hang onto him until I know for sure and I am still on the fence regarding Gloria.

So, Bear will be found a home, Blondie will be integrated back in and I will hang on to Spot and Gloria a bit longer. They are happily integrated into the flock now so no dramas keeping them a bit longer.

We have another remodel in mind! We are going to make the run bigger and now I have the broody box, one big open home for them, rather than separating it off for a broody.

I learnt an important lesson these last few weeks, I am not going to have two hatches at the same time again. One is enough

We were going to use the 3 day weekend to carry out the redo but with temps predicted between 35 and 39, probably best to delay that and just concentrate on making sure everyone stays cool (including us). Also, might be best to wait until Bear has been rehomed and Blondie integrated back in.

I did wonder how hot it would get out your way. I don't know how you manage. Move as little as possible & drink lots of fluids. I had a guy who came from farming tell me that it's worse if you use aircon, because as soon as you step outdoors the contrast really hits you. Stay safe this week-end Satay.

Thanks cwrite. I often wonder how I cope myself sometimes .. Spend most of the day running out moving sprinklers to keep everyone going. I don't have aircon so it's all good. Maybe I might need to go jump in the neighbours dam to cool off if it gets too hot. Today they are saying 38c we will see what it get to. Hope everyone in qld and their and their animals effected by this second round of heat waves stays safe and all our animals come thru it ok.

Glad to hear your pussy is feeling better. Wow seeing old ' luber lips ' would be a once in a life time opportunity. We are hoping for a pleasant 20 degrees today and tomorrow , just hope this wind blows away. More ducklings on the lawn this morning.
