Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Welcome all.
Here is an interesting incident I just filmed.
My old White Leghorn-ish rooster is a perfect gentleman, very calm
and gentle, but he cannot abide the peacock coming into his run!
He is the only rooster I have ever seen who can consistently beat my 20 year old peacock in a fight.
(even the Guineas wouldnt take him on)

Hi there,

I hatched my first ever chickens almost 10weeks ago, I have 3 light Sussex and 5 white silkies..

I had a quick question, does anyone no of any places to sell/swap/giveaway roosters in or near Newcastle? I am yet to decide who's who & don't want to guess as noting my luck I'd give away the ladies lol

I am also looking for a silver laced wyandotte pullet and a barred rock pullet.

Thank you ill try to snap some pics... I did check the silkies wattles at birth read somewhere that females are smooth oval and males are figure 8 and bumpy, but forgot who was who :/

As for eating I wouldn't no where to start I have no problem giving them to someone who will eat them though, better they die for a purpose.

Try Gumtree, i got a free RIR rooster on there then sold it 2 weeks later on Gumtree and go $25 for it, so that was a pleasant profit.

hi we have had some really hot weather down here in Geelong i came up with a great treat for my girls on the hot days...
i froze watermelon and they just loved it
filled old soft drink bottles with water froze them and layed them around for them to sit next to plus put some in their water tub

i have 3 isa browns
1 Australorp and 2 silkies
the big girls are allways pecking at the silkies so i ended up seperating them and gave the silkies their own house
they all share the yard with the dog and cat who both love the chooks...
i have stopped feeding them meat scraps as it made them too agressive
the isa browns are the most agressive but the Australorp isnt as bad
i hope one day now that we have the 2 silkies they might all be able to get into the one main pen again ???????????
