Are Australorps a particularly large breed? Having only had hatchery ones years ago I'm a bit surprised at the rate our new one is growing. Seems to be growing right before my eyes lol. It's going to outgrow it's silkie "mum" very soon and it's only 7 weeks. Wondering if it's going to end up bigger than the faverolles?

My heritage Australorp was quite big. Much bulkier and stockier than my BSL's I have now.

Agree I have heritage ones and they are quite large.

Yeah.thinking the barenvelder x .Number one is shaping up to be a really nice roo. What you think about having a hatch of him with a rsl or gsl?

I think either would be fine Kat. If I had to choose I would go the rsl I think the colours would be nicer.

Today I discovered 3 x the little ducklings drowned in the storm water, . One of the young horses got caught up in the neighbors barbed wire and has torn his legs to smithereens , and we are on our way out to our daughters yr 12 formal. Life is never dull at Inlet Farm !

Those shots are from a nature preserve about 10 kilometers from us, it's called lake Meiko. We usually do a 7-10km walk there at least once a week. After our involvement in WW2, the Porkkala peninsula was rented to Russia for about 10 years. The border of that area was where that nature preserve is now. There are some old bunkers there, and some old trenches too. The place we live at is located where an old border station was, up until a few years ago border control owned our house. 50 meters from the house there are two posts marking where the border was located.

That does sound like an interesting place Felix. You should take a metal detector with you on one of your hikes and see what turns up. Beautiful pics. Your forests are not only pretty, they are highly venemous snake free - that is very appealing! It must be wonderful to be able to tramp through forests from your garden fence. We have a thin strip of forest up against our back fence, but you couldn't get me to walk through it if you put a gun to my head. It only takes one baby death adder... We do get lots of birds though. It's a bit like waking up in an aviary in summer and that's excluding the noise my chooks make.
