YAY happy Dance!

Did a huge happy dance! My sons friend thinks I'm insane cos I've been dancing around saying im a nanna lol

counted definitely 5. Possibly 6 cos they are fast! Hopefully see more in the morning. I just want to snuggle them to death. And mumma is being soooo good.

I hatched him out of my incubator, and there was a time where the bator way over heated! im actually surprised that he survived. so whats the yeat/vegemite route?

Sprinkle some brewers yeast over the feed. The BYeast is high in niacin and thiamine. You need to this post haste or the duck will be crippled. Some Vegemite dissolved in hot water and poured over the pellets will suffice in the mean time but as satay said, Vegemite is high in sodium and shouldn't be used over a long period of time.

Hey fellow Aussies,

Just introducing ourselves. We are a family of four with 2 pre-teenage girls and we are just about to start out with a flock of 4 ISA Browns at around 8 weeks of age. We're in the suburbs of North Western Sydney. Last weekend was spent preparing the run for the chickens. After reading many threads on this forum we decided to go with sand as the base for the run (about 3-4" deep).

The coop is scheduled to arrive (flat packed kit) this week and we will be setting it up over the weekend. It will be placed on concrete pavers with a border of 4" high 2x4 running around the inner perimeter with sand used as the base for the coop as well.

A photo of the run:

The coop we went with is the same as the one in the ad here: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/dand...ken-coop-for-up-to-6-chicken-ch033/1064894451

I've found the info on this site extremely helpful and hope to gain some more info as we go down the journey.

Cheers.

I would either mix up a little vegemite into the water it drinks. Change it out at least once a day or you can get some brewers yeast from your supermarket and sprinkle some over it's food once a day.

That's great news Aussie. I hope you have more hatched for you this morning. :)

Have had 3 fart eggs in a row. Should I be concerned it's every day not just once in a blue moon or would this just be penny returning to laying after being broody etc?[/quoteI wouldn't think it would be your broosy laying fart eggs. Do you have any young ones that are getting close to lay? Fart eggs wont hurt them either way.
