Hey fellow Aussies, Just introducing ourselves. We are a family of four with 2 pre-teenage girls and we are just about to start out with a flock of 4 ISA Browns at around 8 weeks of age. We're in the suburbs of North Western Sydney. Last weekend was spent preparing the run for the chickens. After reading many threads on this forum we decided to go with sand as the base for the run (about 3-4" deep). The coop is scheduled to arrive (flat packed kit) this week and we will be setting it up over the weekend. It will be placed on concrete pavers with a border of 4" high 2x4 running around the inner perimeter with sand used as the base for the coop as well. A photo of the run: The coop we went with is the same as the one in the ad here: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/dand...ken-coop-for-up-to-6-chicken-ch033/1064894451 I've found the info on this site extremely helpful and hope to gain some more info as we go down the journey. Cheers.
We had three eggs pipping earlier tonight. Might be some chicks in the morning.
Hey folks![]()
Just in case anyone has missed me![]()
I have been frantic here both work-wise and coop-wise ... I will catch up with all your posts and update you on the weekend.
Take care for now!
Yeah it's 930 and mine are already panting a bit, I've got some blocks of ice to put in their water later
