Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

No one has informed my silkies that silkies don't fly, don't roost up high, and don't dominate larger birds.

But it is pretty hilarious watching them slap down birds more than four times their size.

It is less hilarious having a silkie launching itself at head high because you have treats!

Good morning Folks

Thank you all, once again, for your kind words and support; Bambrook Bantams has certainly had more than it’s fair share of dramas of late.

We had a pretty good year but then everything seems to have hit at once!

birdman55 love all your pics and have been keeping up with progress on your thread.

Vehve aaaaw, bubbies .. adorable!! Oh my, that video is just killing me. Definitely not something one should watch when one has sworn off hatches for a while!

ChristieB lols at “these 2 might have just magically appeared in the coop”. I already have a black Pekin but definitely would not complain if the little one in the front magically appeared in our coop

Sorry, had to share a picture, Cilla is my little feathered beach ball (she turns two in February)!

AussieChics I agree with satay if mum and bubs are keen to be in the run, you are able to keep a close eye on them and mum is defending them, might as well get the integration over with nice and early; hopefully less dramas that way.

Sam
that picture of Sam and the bub is beautiful!

Howdy Kath8118 and welcome

So, trips out to the coop yesterday afternoon and this morning turned up ZERO nasties so it looks like I am definitely winning the war. I am still going to strip down the coop again today and give it another thorough cleaning after a trip to Bunnings for some ‘Success’.

Going to scrub the coop with soap and water, empty the nest boxes completely (again), spray everything with ‘Success’ and then put it back together again with new pest resistant straw.

In other news, Blondie has it in her little chicken head that she is going to be broody again … I don’t think so sunshine!

And, just to keep me on my toes, Cilla has had sour crop for two days!!!
Anyways, the yoghurt seems to be doing the trick and she is much better today. The last couple of days I had been able to get her to regurgitate fluid but nothing this morning so hopefully she is turning the corner. She is perky and I am not too concerned at this stage, will just keep up the treatment and a very close eye on her.

Dusty has developed an intense addiction to yoghurt dipped meal worms! Apparently that is chicken heaven!

No other news and right now I don’t think I would be able to cope with anything else!

Oh yeah, I am on holidays!! Woot Woot ... 2 wonderful weeks away from work

Hi ho, hi ho, it’s off to scrub I go

Edited to Add: I did forget to mention, after a 7 week drought (battle of the broody) Cilla laid an egg yesterday! Would probably have been less time if I had given her eggs to hatch

Nice to hear that all is right at yours teila. I spent the day moving pullets in with roosters and photo taking, I find it's the easiest way to sex them. I'm quite certain that I have 2 x little white silkie pullets and a cockerel. Will post pics later. :)
