Just lost my Wyandotte to heat stroke.

Stupid me didn't secure the shade well enough and it blew off, right in the middle of the day. The others are all recovering ok but she was unconscious.

Sorry to hear that Christie. : ( It is hideously hot again today. 6 more weeks and it's Autumn. I'm counting the seconds....

Oh that's a shame. Unfortunately whilst their rose comb serves them well in colder climates they are the first to suffer in the heat. :( Sorry for your loss.

Miss Bumblebee's foot has been soaked and she's ready for her foot to be treated. I treated this wound before but I clearly did not tackle it thoroughly enough because it has come back worse than before. I could not get her bandage to stay on and the wound kept getting dirty. This is why we are keeping her inside until I can at least ensure that her bandage will stay on properly.

The wound is on both sides of her toe and it is quite swollen.

She is the calmest girl.

What are you soaking it in ?

Pre-boiled warm (not hot) water with epsom salts and iodine.  I'm more than open to suggestions.  I was going to remove the scabs and curette the wound, flush it with saline and isopropyl alcohol and then wrap it with gauze and vetwrap.

I use Epsom salts also. Sometimes the plug will literally pull out with tweezers. If you have any cetrigen wound spray or even better Terramycin antibiotic spray apply it daily. Triple antibiotic cream is also available here in Aus. If you go down the surgery route you will need to keep her in confinement for some time.

Where do you get triple antibiotic cream? I've never been able to find it in Aus and thought it was only available via prescription. I've got Terramycin antibiotic spray.

I've gone the surgery route before with good success but if I can avoid it I would like to.

Not sure who mentioned the feeders but yes we have layer in a tall feeder.

This is the one I've got. My plastic surgeon gave it to me when I had stitches. But if you've got the Terramycin use it. It is the most valuable wound care item in my first aid box.
