I have a broody chook sitting on about 2 dozen infertile eggs, she wont let me collect them :/ what do I do??

Chooks like horses are pray animals, not predators, like us. Also like horses they use heaps of very subtle body language to communicate. Timid horse owners get walked on because the owner fails, daily usually to be themselves, and ask for respect for their space/needs too.

Likewise a hen has her owner sorted the moment they are in range. Calm, measured, fair treatment that gives respect day in day out almost always gets a good flock.

Problems come when folks get transactional with animals, does'nt work on humans, even less effective on chooks 'n horses.

A peson just walks up real firm in their own mind whats to be done and goes about it in a workman like fashion is easily understood by a hen. The peson thats unsure and dithers tells the hen the visitor is way below in the pecking order and WILL get a sharp reprimand, just watch, lesser hens will lay elsewhere if they dont go through a respect ritual first.

Same deal for the owner.

Howdy. Just wondering if anyone can give advice on how to stop my chicken laying on the roost. She's new to the egg laying game and she started off laying in the nest but now I just find broken ones.
