most do bring them back. But a few live too far away so they chuck em before I see them again. If I have a pretty sticker that says don't forget to save it for me they might remember ;-)

Teila, Dusty's pin feathers are showing quite a bit so it might not be long before she's as new. : ) I can't really see the pin feathers on Snowy as the obvious ones missing are her tail feathers so it will be interesting to see how long it takes for them to open or whatever they do to turn into fluffy feathers.

All my chooks fit nicely onto the top roost. The expression on DH's face when I told him that I could fit 7 more on the lower roost.

Lol Fancy “weird” sums Dusty up pretty well!

Dusty is a Bantam Langshan, not that she looks anything like one at the moment, but they only have feathers down the outside of their leg, so her legs look like she has lost feathers pretty much all the time.

When we purchased Dusty, she was by herself in a cage at the Produce Store because her siblings were picking on her, pecking her etc. The Store Assistant told us that we could bring her back if she was not accepted.

That was nearly two years ago .. I wonder if the offer to take her back still stands! Just kidding!

Anyways, the assistant also mentioned that her siblings had been pulling out her leg feathers not knowing that feathers on one side of the leg is a Langshan trait.

They should have minimally feathered legs, the outer toe of each foot should be feathered, the middle toe should be free of feathering.

Wow Sidhe13 20,000 posts also .. number 2 should be a must on the Lotto ticket this week! (Not that I ever get around to buying one).

CwriteThe expression on DH's face when I told him that I could fit 7 more on the lower roost” .. Too funny!

Hello again! Wooo hoooo, Page 2000! I noticed that, but didn't notice I passed my 2000 post mark  Obviously I was too busy waffling to notice! ROFL Steampunked! Love all the photos Sam! I know, I am a mean chicken mum but I could not let the day end without posting even more embarrassing photos of Dusty who has decided she does not need neck feathers either! And, of course, the chicky paparazzi is working overtime!
Poor Dusty  They are like those embarrassing photos your mum saves and brings out at your 21st. :lau

Congrats on your little bubbas, @Teila . They are just too cute!!

Oh dear, Dusty sure is going through a rough trot, maybe call Ashley & Martin, the hair specialists, for her? Haha

Some of my girls are moulting, but it has never been severe like poor Dusty.

Dusty went through a hard molt this time last year also ... it may be a Langshan-thing or just a Dusty-thing?

My Pekins drop quite a few feathers but I have never seen huge bald patches on them. LuLu (Frizzle) dropped a few feathers and was down to about 4 tail feathers but again, no great big bald patches.

This is what Dusty looked like in April 2014. It is a bit sad if the poor thing has to go through this every 12 months! Last year was my first experience with a hard molt. I went to work, Dusty looked fine .. came home and she looked like this! Feathers all over the run and she was looking very sad and sorry for herself. I thought she had been attacked and rushed to pick her up ... She was not happy about that! I didn't realise how tender they are when they molt; lesson learnt! No touching!
