Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

That's what I was worried about. Probably how it's spread so badly in US
In a word GREED, humanity imposes itself on the environment not the other way around, eventually we the little people(self supporting) have to protect our small domestic production from virus, spores and resistant pests created where? in commercial operations, and then pay more for bought goods made more expensive by overpriced chemical solutions produced by companies exploiting opportunity created by greed not need. We were a clean Continent.........

Hope we learn............our Border Protection missed Bananas and Apples....what next I ask?

Hey guys - I haven't been around in a while because I've been marathon cleaning my house and eliminating my hoard. Pipper is growing up. 5.5 weeks old now.

I can't decide if I think Pipper is a he or a she. Ideas? Pipper is Lavender Araucana X Golden Spangled Hamburg.

Dusty (with feathers!)

Blondie ("who put that there?!")

They are loving the sunshine (no rain) as much as I am:

Morning Tea!

Crystal (also turns 8 weeks on Monday)

LuLu (Is it just me or is there something beautiful about a chicken surrounded by greenery)

Blondie:

Sleeping in the sun .. I love how she fans out her feathers to get full benefit:

More sunbaking:

When your ready, my place needs some serious de-cluttering. I'm not familiar with the breed but the lack of wattles and lack of redness , would have me leaning towards pullet.

Tandykins, Piper has gorgeous coloured feathers! It will be interesting to see what colour her eggs are.

Teila, love the pics of your ladies. Dusty looks very spiffy - with feathers.

Is it just me or does she look a little like a bantam croad with feathering down the outside of her legs?

I've also been taking pics today, fair warning. I gave Pearl a trim around her eyes and she's like a new chicken - that can actually see.

Pearl is in front - the Isabel ara. Her hatch mate is the grey chook (Sprinkles) next to her. Stampy, the ISA brown is very docile so Pearl hangs around her & she's in the background of nearly every pic I took of Pearl today.

OMG - eyes! She's been looking all over the place as if she can hardly believe what she's seeing. It's tempting to take a bit more off now.

I noticed that Snowy was missing from the Greek yoghurt group pic - hmmm. Back on the nest. I think this is broody day one. I took the eggs and after her snack she went back to the nest and screamed for five minutes about her eggs being gone. She keeps having outbursts every now and again. I guess the whole neighbourhood knows how mean I am now.

Snowy and Tiger. I think she felt a bit vulnerable drinking with him so close - a couple a squawks and he cleared right off. You can see a water line on our garden edge from Friday.

The top four in the pecking order.

She's quite lovely. Very araucana in the bum. Her tailfeathers are golden veined and very lavender otherwise and she's getting the golden spangling right around her neck. She's going to be so pretty! She should have the blue egg gene! She's super tame.
