Put 2 polish 6 silver laced wyandottes 8 hyline/fwmaran 16 araucana and 4 polish/araucana eggs in the incubator 25 days ago....after 10 days realised it was only running at 35degrees calibrated it. Candled day 18 and had lost about 50% i got 16 to hatch time just to have 4 pip low and 8 dead in shell fully developed. I have one sl wyandotte still hatching 2 hyline/marans and a single tiny lavender araucana hatched out. Devastated...

That is SO tough, been there done that, and feel your frustration........especially the fully formed ones, just so, so near and then gone.

I agree with fancy watch and see. I have had ones go at it for a few days and then get over it and all been ok..

Thanks! Thats good to know as theyve been on and off today as well. There was one winner the whole time until i went out there again about 4pm and i could have sworn Rodney had been overthrown. He was standing in the corner and Hector was standing on one of the raised garden beds with my top hen. When he seen me come over he moved with top hen side by side. Thats strange as shes always done that with Rodney not him. But then when they realised i wasnt feeding them Scarlet (top hen) went over and started tending to Rodneys wounds. With no resistance from Hector. So think they may be up and down and Rodney has lost his edge for the first time ever

My first hatch was disastrous . Full term quitters are usually due to fluctuations in humidity and or temp. Opening the bator after ' lockdown ' will do it.

My first hatch was a disaster. One hatched and died the next day. I was too sick to do an eggtopsy at the time but when I had candelled they all looked fine.
My second hatch, I set 32 eggs. 4 infertiles and 1 cracked, 17 hatched and 16 of them are still thriving! The recalibration fixed my problem.

It was my 1st big set. Id done a few lots of 2 from my own chooks and decided it was a cheaper way to diversify my flock. But new uncalibrated incubator got me. I did open the bator a few times at the end to candle as we had a 25 day hatch...i had 8 fully formed babies. So horrible. I have learnt now thats for sure. I have 12 araucanas and 6 fw marans and 12 mixed to go in tomorrow. Fingers crossed all hiccoughs are done and dusted. I feel terrible
