HovaBator Genesis. I've been told by others on this site it holds it's temp really well.

yep i have the hovabator, just need to calibrate it very well before you hatch anything, run it for a week or so. thats my advice.

will look at getting a r com in the future. seems to better built machine.

Here is a plan of the "Chook Empire" roughly to scale.
The numbers indicate the order in which the chook houses were built,
with the highest being the latest 3 pens.
Those houses without their own run are brooders or for sitting broody hens.
I have mainly been subdividing bigger runs - now I have no more room to expand
without extending beyond my perimeter defences.
(and that's probably a good thing!)

In every run there are large fruit trees- figs, apples, nashis, & hazelnuts & tagasaste.
The chooks get a lot of extra food this way.

Most of the crosses look fairly ordinary - white/splash with crests.
The Leghorn crosses are racy looking little birds with peacombs and crests.I have been drawing a "map" of my chook empire" setup - I will post that
if anyone is interested.

Do incubators take up a lot of power?
