Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Chenee42 make sure you update us with a photo!! Or 10, everyone loves a fluffy butt :)

Make sure you do rest Iamsamsam the flu is awful! I had infuenza A while pregnant with my last babe, ended up having a c section at 36 weeks after a prom (waters broke early for those not up on the birth acronyms) every single time I coughed it felt like my stitches were ripping open. So yeah, don't do that. Get better soon!!

Well today at about 4pm I saw a post on FB, at 550 2 new girls turned up at my door :)
No names yet but aren't the pretty :)
400

It was already dark when the woman who brought them put them in the coop so I didn't realise till I took the photo but the hen im now calling Sybil because of her persistent scattered appearance, was already in there. So she's unwittingly volunteered to be the canary. I swear I'd closed the doors after I cleaned it for the new girls but they were out free ranging and as usual the isa's decided not to go to bed in their coop, Lily and petunia were up on the window sill by the back door as usual. Not sure how to break them of that.

:weee Grats on your new arrivals :love

Howdy folks

K Spot yep, totally understand the welfare of the chick thing! Anytime I have a hatch here it is basically because I have given into those ‘please let me have babies’ pleads and while I have gotten some beautiful bubs in return, I do not have a breeding program or ‘special’ chicks that I need to keep etc.

Tee hee Meeka3, love the multi purpose eggs

Anniebee yep, these feathered friends of ours can be difficult to raise at times. It is funny but I am the total opposite to you .. I find it very easy to know if something ails my cats because they usually show it very quickly in their actions/habits, whereas I find chickens to be difficult; the little munchkins hide an illness very well until it is sometimes too late to do anything about it.

chenee42 apologies that I can offer no advice on the incubator question as I only have experience with broody hatches, but I just wanted to say G’Day, Welcome to the thread and good luck with the hatch.

Fancy even though I have seen it before, I still love seeing the picture of your egg cup baby .. so adorable!

I am sad to be reading of chicken health issues people are having and hope that you are able to sort them out cwrite and V1cky.

Tee hee Sam congrats on the crowing and the egg! Sorry to hear that you have been unwell but some rest and not having to get up early in the cold sounds like a good idea.

Love the new additions ChristieB; very pretty!

satay I totally hear ya with regards bleating sheep! While I do not have any sheep I do have a very noisy laying hen!

I never thought I would ever say this but I cannot wait for Cilla to go broody again .. lol

I am going to give her a new nickname .. “NIKE” .. Just Do It!

For two hours .. “I am going to lay an egg .. I am going to lay an egg .. I am going to lay an egg”. Then, silence while she does the deed. Then “I laid an egg .. I laid an egg .. I laid an egg”!!

Good job I love my funny little feathered beach ball!
