We are always fascinated when the girls lay one of those itsy bitsy eggs.

I had no idea that anyone would have seen any of these 'itsy bitsy eggs' .... ( love that description ).

So I am presuming now, that they are common ? ( I think I would cheer if I found one --- would mean that chooky did not have to labour and push, purr and shove a large egg out --- way to go little ones ). I love it when my girls 'take a day off' .... poor wee darlings, from doing all that hard yakka.

Another 'something learned' ... for today.

We all MUST keep on learning.

Ciao ---- Anniebee.

Not that common, I've only had one here in many years and dare I say thousands of eggs.
Generally referred to as a ' fart ' egg.
Here's mine pictured with a silkie,Wyandotte and Sussex egg.
Btw, silkie eggs can range in colour from white to pink.

Thanks now I know what 'fart eggs' mean:p
We usually get them from new chickens coming into the lay. Have had a few unusual rubbery lumps from the older chooks.

Haven't been on for a few days but though I'd share that our original rooster died yesterday. Broke his neck not long before we let him out for the day. Coop was overcrowded a bit but we managed to get rid of 5 chicks the following day so the rest should be comfortable now
Hi so got some good news and some bad again one of the goslings died don't no how but it was fine the day before then went to check on them that night and he was dead in the nest box so yeah down no how couldn't feel any breaks so could've just been a freak accident. Anyway no more bad news the little gosling that had that swollen foot is fine now he is strong and walking so all good. Another thing is that one of my friends want a pair of geese for next year so I am giving the radar and bear so then I will have clare flapper and Mr Hiss so yeah will be able to keep some of the goslings from this years hatch yayaayyay so happy but sad at the same time can watch them grow all over again so yeah but also sad that I have to get rid of radar because he is far to aggressive towards my chickens and Hiss doesn't care as long as they don't get near the goslings he is in a good mood. So will keep updated but here are some pics of the older gosling with the younger goslings in the backyard with the geese. But you can tell the difference between a 2 week old gosling and 3 day old So on day 9 swell for my little silver lace wyandotte hen and have candled all of the eggs yay candled for the first time and for what I can see all are alive all were moving inside of the eggs and lot of veins so excited she is going to be such a good mum. But I am hoping for another broody to hurry up because I have 8 orpington eggs and 4 plymouth eggs that I need to hatch so fingers cross but maggie my older sussex silkie mix is showing signs as she was in the nest box all day yesterday and same for the day before so fingers crossed I guess
Sorry to hear of ur losses :-( Well im glad ur candling went well! I just tried, failed miserably and gave them all back to her. Couldnt see in the eggs much at all. Tried 3 different lights and a candle! Maybe i need a torch that shines straight and small? Maybe i just suck? :-( absolute fail. I could see air sacks in some.. that was about it, no veins or anything. The only thing i got out of it is that at least i know how many eggs shes sitting on now. I thought it was 12 or 13 but NO its 16!! She covers them all beautifully. And so much for they wont notice theyll sit on straw... She gave me just under a minute of searching for the eggs under her before she walzed right out and started stealing them back! Lol. Was happy to let her as i couldnt really see anything... Hmmm.. dont really know what to do now. Would candle my other broodys eggs tomoro but i guess ill have the same problem of the egg not lighting up properly.. it was strange as the day oldish egg i grabbed from my broody candled beautifully.. dont know what i was doing wrong!!!? :-(

Has anyone else been getting Chinese language in home page? I have reported mine to support and it seems to have cleared now.

No locknest4 .... I for one, haven't ... but nothing surprises me these days.   Get heaps of stuff on Facebook in various languages - all of which are offered to be translated on the page.

Best to translate things by copying and pasting to Google Translate ( if you want to know, that is ).

Guess the moderators here jumped on it .. and fixed the problem.   Not uncommon on many sites btw.

Cheers ----

Thanks for the feedback Annibee.
We are new to computer forums/social media (very backward we are, as well as time short) so have never seen the language stuff before.
Will have to join Facebook when our teenager decides she wants too so we can keep tabs on her

Some dark shelled eggs are more difficult to candle , you need one of those small bright lumen torches and the dunny roll helps to concentrate the beam whilst making handling the egg easier. :)

Yes i definitely notice the dark ones were harder. Used the toilet roll.. still didnt work :-( Accidentally dropped one egg straight through the roll! Will have to shop for torches tomoro i think
