Calcium carbonate is oyster shell, you should be able to buy it from your pet supplies. It is best in a bowl , under cover in the coop on ' free take '. Hens are very good at knowing when they need it. Those that don't need it will pass.

Haven't been on for a few days but though I'd share that our original rooster died yesterday. Broke his neck not long before we let him out for the day.
Coop was overcrowded a bit but we managed to get rid of 5 chicks the following day so the rest should be comfortable now
