Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Thats shocking duckyfromoz! I think its really sad when you dont feel safe in your own home anymore

That poor guys family, and sadly the news seems to be littered with similar stories these days

Well I'm off to the vet with my poor little cat Brick in a moment, she's not a happy camper, in lots of pain and has a lump on her side, came up over night. Fingers crossed she'll be ok

Poor Brick!! Do you know what happened to to her?

Finger crossed she will be ok... Let us know what the vet has to say.

Wow Ducky, I heard about that on the news, I didn't realize it was so close to you.

Scoopy, I hope Brick is ok and feeling better soon.

I'm glad I moved my Silkies into a fully roofed pen yesterday, they'd be soggy Sillkies if the went out in this.

Rare, it's always sad when you loose one isn't it. Great news about the other one hatching. It's been raining here too which is great. Who would think you could get 500mm of rain in a week in January and then next to no rain for the rest of the year til now. Everything was sooo browns it's not funny. Wow Ducky that was rather close to home and scarey. Scoopy I hope Brick is ok too.

For the chicken.. I had the same with my ducks in the past - so that why generally I only incubate now. I do let them sit if they are really intent on doing so- I have one right now actually. I was going to set any more eggs from the Crested breeding pen, but if my little buff girl wants to do it herself... Well I guess I better start thinking about moving the two others out of the area and start setting it up so it is safe for babies too.

It will rain more tonight.. I promise it will... I just washed my car so it HAS TO!!

I havent actually washed the ute in a while since I go up to the block and get it so dirty all the time- so its really nice to see what it supposed to look like.

15 days... Has anyone else not done much in the way of Christmas shopping yet?? I have been so very slack this year. In the past I have started putting things away as early as January- but this year I have only got two people sorted at this stage.

Thanks for all the concern for Brick guys, she is home and feeling a bit better. The vet thinks she may have been in a nasty fight with another cat, but its also possible one of my horses kicked her or she was hit by something - car etc. her temperature was way up and she was sore all over, although there were no obvious puncture marks. She had some pain relief and is on anti-biotics for 4 days so hopefully that will stop anything that may be brewing. She's gone from a bit of a snobby princess cat to the biggest smooch of all time, just wants sympathy. Have to keep an eye on her for the next week just incase she ends up with an abscess from a bite/scatch, but fingers crossed she wont, she is spending almost all of her time inside for the time being.
It would be lovely if we got some rain here, our plants could do with a water and the tanks could do with a top up, as could yours duckyfromoz I'm sure after your little accident! And the paddock we will bale for hay is still too green so any extra growth we could get would be great. And way behind on the christmas shopping, we are going through a bit of a tricky financial patch at the moment so are trying to pace ourselves on the christmas spending.
Rarebreeds - will you give any others that hatch to the broody or will you hand raise them now? I've had about 4 now that seem to have been squished by there mumma's, but at the end of the day would rather risk a squished baby over burning my shed/house down, I have a fear of heat lamps! Hope you have others hatch soon to be the first ones friend

Good news on Brick then, Hope she is soon back to her normal self again.

Its 12.30... No chance of sleep for a while. We have an electrical storm here at the moment - meaning some very scared little duckies. I turned on the light in their room- but the thunder is still scaring them. I can see one of the brooders on a table in the spare room from where I sit here at the computer - with every thunderclap I see little faces pop up over the side looking at me. They settle quickly again when I go and talk to them. Good that they can get used to it now- since they will have to be moving outside in a few more days.

Anyone else get much rain last night?? I am thinking I should go up to my block of land tomorrow to see how the drain i put in has worked - but so far their hasnt been a lot of rain up their- so its not really worth the 2 hour drive up there... I wish I was up there now though...I love watching a thunder storm up there. Snuggled up in bed looking straight up since the shed has clear pannels in the roof.

We got 103 mm over the weekend. Of course one of the heaviest of down pours i was just getting out of the car at the neighbours
lol.png
Was so cold and wet by the time i made it to the stairs of their house but it was worth it for the rain. My tanks are full

Scoopy 82 glad Brick is on the mend. All you Queenslanders, glad it's finally raining for you!

I just realised how bad I have the chicken bug - hubby asks me what I want for Christmas, and I said "Build me another Chicken Coop!"
