Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Such a sad thing to happen anytime of the year but at this time makes it seems just that bit more sad.:hugs

Yes it is. Louise 's little sister is devasted and her funeral is Wednesday. One can only imagine the kind of Xmas they are going to have. :(
Just inexperience, middle of the day, no alchahol involved, very sad. I hear people saying that 'P' platers should be able to drive at the same speed as the rest of us and I think that is stupid. They don't have the skills to get themselves out of trouble , that takes time and experience.

Good morning Friends :frow

Chicken-clucky just wondering, when you had the same problem with Murphy, what did you do, if anything?  Or did they just work it out?

Anniebee I could not agree more about the defensive driving course.  Also, while I know it is not technically possible, a day riding with the Ambulance or Traffic Incident Response Team would be educational.

Congratulations to Astrid and of course, her rightly so, very proud grandmother :clap

Locknest4 as the egg was found in the back of the coop with the poop, could it have been laid overnight?  I know with a couple of my new layers it took them a while to get the ‘plumbing’ and timing right.

Their flicking the shell grit everywhere is interesting .. never seen that.  Unless my gals are pecking at it, it is totally ignored.

While food and water is always outside the coop, I keep the oyster shell inside the coop.  Anyone who is laying generally takes a couple of pecks at it before going up to roost for the night.

Fancy I hope you have a great day; that sounds like an excellent plan.  Aaaaw, at keeping the little one company, I do hope that more hatch.

So, I didn’t totally rest yesterday .. I stripped down the pond filter and gave it a good clean and watered the garden.  Of course, the girls helped me with the pond filter ;)   "What ya doing?" .. "What's that?" .. "Need a hand?" .. "Can we eat that?"

Then I read a book .. it was only 300 or so pages but read the whole thing; haven’t done that for a very long time.

As thanks for being able to spend the whole day in the garden yesterday, the girls let me sleep in until 05:30am … they are like children, wear them out and they sleep in

Blondie’s comb appears to be healing nicely and appears to not be bothering her.  The day in the garden was also helpful in that everyone else had better things to worry about than an injured comb in need of pecking ;)

Teila hi I removed the Isa's (Murphy, Molly and Maggy) from my mixed (Baby, Cat and Essy) because it was just getting too rough and they are too little to defend them selfs.

Normally they will sort it out themselves if you give them a chance as you said some can take the moving up a little to serious. I have an answer for you.. Get some more pekins

Thank you for that chicken-clucky.

Luckily I am dealing with similar sized gals so hopefully, as others have suggested, they will work it out without any more injuries. I did notice that Blondie squatted for KiKi yesterday and KiKi just looked at her and walked away so they may have worked it out already and Blondie has dropped down a peg .. poor Blondie.

Something similar happened out here a couple of years ago around this time of year too. A young girl on her p's was driving down the main highway with her dad in the passenger seat and her identical twin sister in the back and her young brother in the back too. She went out to over take a car but must have judged the distance wrong and had a head on crash killed her sister and her dad. I remember thinking at the time the poor girl even though it was terrible mistake and nothing more the poor thing would have to live with that for the rest of her life.

Couldn't agree with you more .
