Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Well crap hey. I just heard the chooks making a racket and looked out the window and there was a bloody hawk sitting on our pool fence!

It was a big brown one so not what took captain as that was grey ( and we are pretty sure a goshawk). Girls were a bit shook up and hiding in their house.

I'd been letting them on the grass in a little metal run with bird netting over it. Looks like even that is going to have to be totally supervised now! Arghhhhh

OMG MyHaven, yes, go forth and collect your new babies as soon as you can. So gorgeous!

And yes, they are totally pigeons, one of those fancy pigeon breeds you hear about. That's what I'm telling the new neighbours, should they find reason to complain (they may, due to the noisy egg songs they've been belting out lately). That means I only have five chickens, one under the limit ;)

D'uccles, those bearded little munchkins have won me over to their side. I'll never ever be able to walk past one without bringing it home. I still want a mille fleur and a porcelain.

On another note, our new house has a big brick pond in the front yard, which I suggested to my mother would make the perfect duck pond, even has little fish in it for them. She was less than keen unfortunately. I need to get the poultry bug to spread.

True, I love looking at fancy's lovely green grass when she posts. I'd seriously move to tassie for the green grass if I wouldn't freeze to death in winter :lau I nearly freeze to death out here most winters :lau
green all yr here. Pissing fown rain as we speak. Ugh. I hate the rsin. Just dug out the entire chook pen. We're gravelling it. Im over the detestable mud puddle it becmes every time it rains.... (often).

Thanks potato chip and satay I will give it more time. It just gets frustrating when I'm in a hurry and I have to catch them and carry them all. I was hoping after a week they'd get the idea. Its funny how they try and get out of the run when you don't want them to and when you make them a safe path away from the big bad ISA's they don't want to go that way. Chooks are like men you just can't lead them were you want them to go. (not without alot of effort) sorry any men on here. Haha

Well I know who not to phone when I need talking down.

Don't they just get up to the most amusing antics?

The seller hasn't contacted me yet. The suspense is hard to bare.
