Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Thanks Annie , our grandaughter insists that we keep the candles burning until he has had time to find his sister in heaven, so that he will be warm. She loves him so much but it was his time . I promised her that in the spring time tigger would send her a message from heaven by covering the cherry tree with beautiful white blossom , and then she would know that he was with friends and happy. :)
No rain as yet, we have a heavy fog this morning, that usually means a sunny day to come.
Hubby and daughter are off to Brisbane for the weekend to look at some show jumpers. Hope it's not raining up there. :)

The candles burning is beautiful - your granddaughter is obviously gorgeous.

Sry, it's been raining a bit here in Brisbane today. Sorry, I'm glad about that.

I did read that they like music .. I might try a radio.
She might see it as a backing track and redouble her efforts.....are her vocal stylings annoying because they are annoying, or is it the fear that she'll be bothering the neighbours? If the former, sing along. My cocky loves my renditions of "volare", we do wonderful duets. Give it a whirl. I'm sure you can out-do her. "You should be dancing" by the Bee Gees is another favourite....

Hey Fancy you have hit the nail right on the head, it is probably my conscience that is causing the conflict and if I did not care about her, she would have been gone months ago.

May be if I leave it for a couple more months, she will have driven me to the point that I will be happy to see her go and it would not be so hard .. kidding! ;)

Sadly, no family here in Brisbane.

I have some serious pondering to do.

Edited to Add: So, I have drafted the ad and saved it .. I can not bring myself to post it .. I am hopeless ;)

Can you hold on a couple of weeks when I rationalise my numbers.

Then I could take her for a few days, or however long you need to make the decision.

Oh I am so sorry she is annoying you . If i was closer i would happily take her and she could live here with the other pekins. Unfortunately i have just developed frozen shoulder again grrr so doc says no driving.

Good morning friends :frow

So, there I was, thinking I was having some involuntary twitching thing going on but a scan of the memory bank revealed that it was only just shivering due to the cool nip in the air this morning … it has been a long hot summer

It is raining in Brisbane today and even as I type ;)

Lots of great, educational discussions going on and as I was working on site yesterday, lots to catch up on.

On the subject of ‘the egg song’ I truly believe it is dependant on their individual chickenalities [not breed] and frame of mind they are in at the time.

I read that they sing the egg song away from the nest, to draw attention to themselves and not the nest and to deter any lurking predators .. not sure if that is true or not.

On the subject of ‘combs’, having a Bantam Langshan, I am intrigued as to why their combs “would be called defective"?

CluckerFeet love the pics and yep, I do believe your chickens might be camera shy or just showing you their best side .. fluffy butts! ;)

MyHaven beautiful birds .. I hope you are able to find homes for them.

mooandmcgee good to read that your girls are being good little chickens!  When they are older, you might want to hire them out as educators for other flocks .. put the Princesses at Bambrook Bantams at the top of the waiting list please :/

Fancy I am so very sorry to read of Tigger’s passing :(

LuckysMum I have mentioned this in the past, but I find it easier to open a Word Document, type my replies as I scroll through the thread and then simply copy & paste in a Reply.  It also helps when typing a long post in that you do not get interrupted by prompts of someone else posting while you are typing.

In any other breed the langshan comb extends to far back over the head and has too many points(or spikes) on it.

Thank you Fizzybelle .. yep, I know there are lots of good chicken people out there and I have been lucky enough to meet the cream of the crop right here!

satay and MyHaven I can not thank you both enough for your more than generous offers.

As I type, KiKi is saying goodnight to the world .. sitting on the roost, honking away and I am OK with that.

Once again she has yet another stay of execution … bad day, demanding users, in your face cat and constant honking does not a good outlook make.

After work, I went outside, sat with the girls and told KiKi what a very bad chicken she was and when she looked at me .. not a chance in the proverbial that I could hand her over, even to friends who I know would take such very good care of her.

I really do just have to learn to live with it [if the music does not work that is] … I could always try music headphones of my own but I do find them distracting when trying to work.

Another option could be to shut the bedroom door and the front door to reduce the volume. Not an option in summer when I need all the air flow I can get, but winter is coming.

Either way, I am going to try and make this work. I did suggest to hubby I retire and become a full time chicken carer

Fizzybelle wow, you can see the rooster in that picture of ‘Iris’ and Esme and it is an adorable picture. Esme is such a little cutie! Congrats on breaking Agnes … hopefully you will not have to deal with broodiness again until Spring.

satay ouch, I am sorry to read about you shoulder .. not good

Thanks sjturner79 I confess to really not paying much attention to their combs unless they are showing signs indicative of illness or injury. I have, however, noticed that Dusty’s comb does seem to ‘free float’ over the back of her head more than the others’ combs which remain ‘attached’ to their head.

Ok so the chicks do have red little bugs on them

It's not a bad infestation but its been confirmed. I have a dusting powder, more surface spray for the coop & lime to dust around the floor of the run. Anything else I need to know? Am I missing anything? Do I have the right stuff? what's the protocol?

Once I get rid of the bugs my daughters daycare has asked if I could bring our chicks into the room for a little show and tell.

I'm thinking about it but are also really unsure they will like it.

Thought you might appreciate this Annie. Part of the Global Champions tour in Miami beach. What a view, our daughters greatest dream is to compete in this competition . :)

1000

That looks SO cool, who wouldn't want to see that or participate in it? I'm not a horse person and I think that would be really cool.
