Hi there Droppies chooks welcome to the Thread and BYC.

No news of note from Bambrook Bantams. Today is just going to be about pottering in the garden and getting stuff done before the predicted rain tomorrow.

We have not had a chicarazzi day of late so I might just dust off the camera and see if anyone would like to strike a pose

We seriously cannot get a break. Now Carl is in the garage with what sounds like an obstruction in her throat. She is wheezing with every breath but not badly mouth breathing or sucking her chest in and out with each breath. Got the steamer going to help in case it's mucus. Now to just pray she makes it till morning when I can get into the vet.

Oh and to top it off there was a half eaten egg in the house. Seems the one that is too stupid to use the nesting box dropped it on the new concrete so it broke open. Just what I need, for them to start eating them because that keeps happening. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

You need a looooong holiday! !

I have nearly finished the silkies coop. If it would stop raining I could dig the trench around it to add the mortar mix around it. They are approaching 8 weeks and definitely ready for outside! The little D'Uccle is jumping on everyone lol

400

Once the mortar is in I have some golden cane palms to put in that will grow quickly to add shade. The tree that is behind it when it's much bigger will provide shade also.

Now if it will just stop raining!

Unfortunately the crop issues could be the result of a chronic upper respiratory disease .
Have you got any antibiotics on hand ?
Best to put a bed of straw or hay under the nest boxes.

I've got those b ones I bought online. I gave her a sort of a dose because I figured what's to loose and I'd already mixed it up to give Al as she is just not getting any better. Only thing I've seen Al eat is some dried grass she managed to get hold of and with the crop problems didn't want to risk that. Also makes it hard to add straw or hay under their roosts. Couldn't really give too much antibiotic without choking Carl but did manage to get her to drink a little by putting a drop on her beak at a time and she would swallow the drop so she had a little dose.

I'm also wondering about whether worms could do this too. I'm still waiting on those worm tablets to arrive but since you mentioned it been wondering that more and more. I have always got them to take the roundworm only one and had actually not long done that before all this started but I just have never had much success at getting the broader wormer into them, they all hate the taste. I think I'll ask tomorrow.

My son was really upset. As much as they are all sort of pets, Carl is just extra special and really holds the same spot for us all as your pet dog or cat would so to see her like this and not be able to help is really hard.

As I lie here unable to sleep because of the incessant barking of a dog a few doors up, I wonder why that seems acceptable but I can't keep my rooster.

So annoying!

Lucky for me the rules where I am actually treat loud dogs as roosters as being the same, it's just your allowed 2 dogs but only 1 rooster, though nobody near me minds the 2 I had, but now I seem to have 5 I need to get rid of some.
