Don't give up on those eggs - they are tougher than you think.
I found my humidity has high for the first week after I had washed the sponges in it.
Was the base sponge completely dry when you set the incubator?

The humidity won't kill them - remember chooks are tropical jungle birds - sometimes 100% humidity in the jungles.
