Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Hi all, I have only had one triple yolker and that was over a year ago. My young goose has given me two double yolkers. I was checking her nest before she sat, as the chooks and ducks like to visit and contribute at times. Twice in one week I found really long eggs and checked them out to see a double. They are now in the fridge. She is sitting now along with 2 other geese and 3 ducks. Not in the same nest of course. ;)

Good luck. Pics are always appreciated.

Greetings from a very cold Little Hampton in the Highlands of Victoria. This is my newest family member, hatched out of her little olive egg 6 days ago!

Beautiful!

I was watching a YouTube video and the guy was excited because his 16 year old avocado was finally fruiting. Yikes that's a long wait lol

I've got one is I think three years this year, it came up in the compost heap and I snapped the tap root off pulling it out before I spotted the seed and I realised what it was. I planted it in a pot figuring worst could happen was it would die (didn't know to leave the seed exposed either so buried that too) and it's still going strong :)

I'm also babysitting one for my sister as it didn't like her salt air which is bigger (not quite the size of yours) that a neighbour gave her. Last year it got covered in flowers but it was all mid move and weeks of rain and it ended up loosing all its leaves and the flowers. I repoted it into a much better draining pot and it came back 10 times better so we are excitedly looking toward to this years fruiting season

I love that home made pot.

I have waited a long time but finally got my first green egg from my EE. I can't work it out though. I got two the same day. She is the only EE I've got how can she lay two large eggs on the first day she lays?

Also, I've been meaning thank everyone for the advice to help Ink my cockatiel. She is doing much better.

Hi Sydney siders! This is Ethel Belle, my Welsummer. She about 26-28 weeks old, any idea when she will lay??
The suspense is killing me, I'm eggcited!!

Hi there, and welcome :) Your Ethel Belle is a gorgeous looking girl indeed! She should start laying anytime from now. Some do take a bit longer than others, but around 6 months is the average. I have an Araucana I'm eagerly awaiting a first egg from too, shouldn't be long now either. It's worth the wait though, first eggs are always exciting :)

Teila, I could picture the look on Cilla's face when you plonked her down

Well it's been noisy around here lately. Lots of random clucking out loud, and egg songs. Speaking of which, Mabel sang her first egg song the other day. She had a random attack of the sillies (like how cats get), and ran into the bushes and began clucking. Apparently whatever she was saying was either highly inspirational, or infectious, as Agnes chimed in. The pair carried on as a duet for about a minute until Beatrice also felt compelled to sing along. The three of them carried on for a good while, as I sat there watching and laughing. It's never dull with chickens. Mabel's had a lot of extra silly energy lately, wish she'd share it with me, I could use it.

Good morning folks :frow Got a little bit of catching up to do ;) appps we basically have Foxtel for one reason, the Footy Channel! We also do not watch a great deal of television and listen to the radio most of the day. But it is nice to flop into the recliner at the end of the day and watch TV for an hour or so before bed. If there is nothing else, we can always rely on an NCIS episode .. no such thing as too much Leroy Jethro Gibbs! ;) Fizzybelle how is Agnes’ eye? Aaaah, the joys of having broodies [not! lol]. Cilla has laid 5 eggs since the return to laying, 5 more to go and I will probably have a broody also ;) kat79 sorry to read about your egg dilemma. Anniebee many thanks for the additional info on Chucky. He continues to visit daily. Hey MullyAly sorry, I am not able to answer your question. Not much news of note. A friend on Facebook posted a link to ‘How to grow avocados from seed in pots’ which got me to thinking I should take an updated picture of my two; Arnie and Danny [yep, even the trees have names here! lol] Baby Arnie Baby Danny Arnie on the left is 4 years old this month and Danny on the right is 3 years and 3 months. Danny looks a bit droopy because today is watering day. I do not hold out much hope of getting fruit from them but I still love them ;)
Your avos are looking great. I have tried to grow the trees out here and they die. Not sure if it is the lack of rain but i can't grow them. I have tried the seeds too and can never get one to sprout., Which is odd cause further down esk gatton road there are quite a few avocado farms.

Good morning folks
