Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Gotta love these faverolles. How's this for birds never touched up till two weeks ago. The only contact they had was when their food and water was changed. Pretty cool :)

Hi all

Any advice for a sick chookie?

I just thought my White leghorn Lizzy was moulting and was completely naive until yesterday when I suddenly realised that this was WAY more than moulting - she has patches of bare skin - looks almost plucked in places poor little thing. : ( I'm embarrassed to say this - I really do care for them but just didn't see it. And places where there sre spindly bits and bare patches on her wings. She's really distressed if I pick her up. I am taking her to my vet first thing in the morning - but just wondering what experience you've all had?

My other 2 are ok. Yesterday I did see them peck at her so I was worried - but today they seem to have been protecting her (or is that my wishful thinking?) They are really used to being together so I just don't want to think of the c... word.

Thanks sss

Hi guys,
I usually just lurk this thread but am getting a little crazy trying to find Showgirls in Australia. There's a lady in Queensland that sell chicks but she won't sell eggs, I've already asked her. Someone did contact me months ago with a contact but that person never replied to me. I do have my own Naked necks and Silkies but I'd love to be able to skip 5 generations and get proper little Showgirls. If you know anyone who'd be willing to ship eggs to WA please get me in touch with them, thanks o_o!

Other than that I would try farm stock.

Do you have a rooster? Could be overly aggressive mating if not it could be hens ganging up on her. Have you checked her for lice and mites? Please let us know what you find out from your vets.

Hi.

I can only think of 3 things that cause feather loss.

Mites and lice. I would check her for those.
Pecking from your other 2. Chicken are "smart" well ish. They could just be doing it while you are not there. It can get pretty bad. I would watch for blood.
Rooster. Do you have a rooster? If so he might be just getting a bit to keen on you WLH.

Good luck. Hope the vet can fix it.
