Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Piperazine only treats for round worm and you have to treat twice , 10 days apart in order to kill any hatching larvae. Chickens are susceptible to several species of internal parasites so I use a levamisole product. Big L wormer contains levamisole and it has 2 x treatment dosages. The weaker dose only treats round worm, but the stronger dose treats for more. Avitrol plus is another wormer used by many breeders.
Great advice.... just wormed them yesterday.... would it be ok to follow up in 10 days with Avitrol or Big L? And would it be ok to worm Molly while she is recovering?

In some cases it's best to worm first time round with the piperazine, it's a little gentler on the system and because it doesn't kill everything at once your birds are less inclined to suffer complications . Worming sick animals is a judgement call , if you think that parasites may be the underlying problem here , yes I would worm her. Just remember that a burden of worms can trigger many symptoms including upper respiratory issues.

I think it might be the time of year for my marans. Fingers crossed we both get better hatches next time around.
Yeah, could be. I have silkies hatching left right and centre under Broodies. I'm trying this new ' Italian Job ' (hehe) incubator. Supposed to be fool proof. :hmm

Rehomed 4 x big Orpington boys , the girls will be so happy to see them go. :bow
